The current Steam listing calls for a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K, 16 GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1660 Ti at minimum. Its recommended tier raises the processor to a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400 and the graphics card to a Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070. An SSD with 60 GB free space is required in both tiers.
Steam describes the minimum as a target of 30 FPS at 1080p on Low with upscaling, while the recommended tier targets 60 FPS at 1440p on Medium with upscaling. Those are store-listed goals, not independent benchmarks or guarantees for every system. Requirements can still change before the planned 13 October 2026 release.

What the minimum specification actually means
It is a discrete-GPU baseline
The minimum graphics options are a Radeon RX 5600 XT and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Both are dedicated desktop-class GPUs rather than integrated graphics. A PC that only has Intel UHD, Intel Iris Xe, or a basic Radeon integrated GPU should not be assumed to meet the requirement simply because it has 16 GB of memory.
The stated performance target is limited
Steam pairs the minimum hardware with 30 FPS at 1920×1080, Low settings, and upscaling. This indicates the level the store is targeting, not a promise that every computer with one of the named parts will hold 30 FPS in every scene. Frame rate can vary with drivers, background applications, thermal limits, game patches, and the exact upscaling mode selected in the final build.
Sixteen gigabytes is enough for both tiers on paper
Minimum and recommended listings both specify 16 GB of RAM. The recommended tier therefore improves the CPU and GPU rather than increasing system memory. A dual-channel 16 GB kit is a sensible configuration, but the listing does not state a required memory speed or channel layout.

What the recommended specification is designed to deliver
A large graphics-class jump
The recommended GPUs are a Radeon RX 6800 and GeForce RTX 3070. They are substantially higher tiers than the RX 5600 XT and GTX 1660 Ti named for minimum. Steam associates them with 60 FPS at 2560×1440, Medium settings, and upscaling. As with the minimum target, this is a stated store target rather than a laboratory result.
A newer processor baseline
The recommended CPUs are a Ryzen 7 5800X and Core i5-13400. Compared with the minimum Ryzen 5 3600 and Core i5-10600K, they provide a newer platform and more processing headroom. The listing does not publish a CPU-core requirement, clock-speed threshold, or benchmark score, so do not treat one model as universally faster in every workload without considering the rest of the system.
Recommended does not mean maximum settings
The recommended target is Medium at 1440p with upscaling, not native 1440p at Ultra. The requirements page does not state an Ultra preset, ray-tracing target, refresh-rate target above 60 FPS, or native-resolution benchmark. Those settings may be available in the game, but their hardware needs are not established by the published table.

How to check whether your PC qualifies
- Identify Windows. Open Settings > System > About and check the Windows edition and version. The listed operating systems are Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Check the processor and installed memory. In Settings > System > About, read the processor name and installed RAM. Compare the model with the minimum or recommended names; 16 GB is the listed amount for both.
- Check the graphics card. Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and select Display adapter properties, or run
dxdiagand open the Display tab. Record the exact GPU model, not just the amount of video memory. - Verify DirectX. Run
dxdiagfrom the Start menu and read the DirectX Version on the System tab. The listing calls for DirectX 12. - Confirm the drive type and free space. In Windows, open Settings > System > Storage to verify at least 60 GB free. Use Defragment and Optimize Drives to see whether the installation volume is identified as a solid-state drive. The game explicitly requires an SSD.
- Check the target you want. If your parts only match the minimum row, plan around 1080p Low and 30 FPS with upscaling. The recommended row is the relevant comparison for the listed 1440p Medium and 60 FPS goal.
Matching one component does not make a system equivalent to a complete row. For example, a PC with a recommended GPU but a processor below the minimum CPU tier is not covered by the published requirements.
CPU, GPU and storage details that are easy to miss
CPU names are examples of a tier, not a universal equivalence formula
Steam lists specific AMD and Intel models, but it does not explain how to map every generation, mobile chip, or lower-power variant to them. A newer processor may perform similarly while an older high-end model may differ by game and workload. If your CPU is not named, treat the comparison as indicative rather than an official pass.
GPU comparisons are especially difficult on laptops
Laptop GPUs can use the same family name as desktop parts while running at different power limits. The Valor Mortis listing supplies no laptop table and no guidance for mobile equivalents. Check the exact laptop GPU model and its power configuration; do not assume that a shared name guarantees desktop-level performance.

SSD is mandatory, but NVMe is not specified
The requirement says SSD and 60 GB available. It does not say that an NVMe drive, PCIe generation, or a particular 2.5-inch or M.2 form factor is necessary. A compatible solid-state drive meets the stated storage class. Leave additional free space for updates and Windows overhead rather than filling a 60 GB partition to its limit.
DirectX 12 is a software requirement
DirectX 12 support depends on the operating system, graphics driver, and GPU feature support. Updating Windows and installing the current driver from the GPU manufacturer can resolve an outdated runtime, but a driver update cannot add hardware features that the graphics processor lacks.

Why older Valor Mortis requirements still appear online
Earlier English-language Steam and AMD materials published a different table. That older information listed Windows 11, 50 GB of storage, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700 with an RX 6700 or RTX 2070 Super for minimum, and a Ryzen 7 7700 or Core i7-13700 with an RX 7900 GRE or RTX 4070 for recommended.

Those figures should be treated as superseded demo-era specifications, not combined with the current table. AMD’s official partner page still carries the earlier values, which explains why searches can produce apparently conflicting answers. In a 10 June 2026 Steam Community response, a developer account identified the earlier specification as subject to change. The current live Steam listing is the more relevant reference, but it remains wise to recheck it close to release.
Do not average the two tables
Combining the old 50 GB figure with the current 60 GB figure, or treating the old recommended GPU as an additional requirement, creates a specification that no official page states. Use the current Steam row for planning and label the older figures as historical whenever you encounter them in a forum post or partner page.
Upgrade priorities if your PC falls short

There is no published evidence that adding RAM alone will turn a minimum-specification machine into a recommended one: both rows already list 16 GB. Likewise, buying a faster SSD may improve loading behavior, but it does not replace the required CPU or GPU class.

Steam lists a planned release date of 13 October 2026. Because the game is unreleased, the requirements page can be revised as optimization, graphics settings, and build content change. The developer’s earlier statement that specifications were subject to change is a reason to check the live listing again before purchasing hardware specifically for this game.
Until the final build is available, the published table cannot establish laptop compatibility, exact frame rates in particular areas, shader-compilation behavior, ray-tracing performance, or the best upscaling mode. It also does not guarantee that a system matching the minimum row will avoid stutter or maintain 30 FPS in every situation.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 is installed and fully updated.
- Your processor meets at least the listed Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i5-10600K class, or you have a clearly comparable model.
- You have 16 GB of RAM.
- Your dedicated GPU is at least in the RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 Ti class for the minimum target.
- DirectX 12 is available and your graphics driver is current.
- The installation drive is an SSD with 60 GB free.
- You understand that minimum targets mean 1080p Low at 30 FPS with upscaling, while the recommended target is 1440p Medium at 60 FPS with upscaling.
- You have checked the live Steam listing near launch because the game is planned for October 2026 and the requirements may be revised.
Bottom line
Plan for a dedicated gaming GPU, 16 GB of RAM, an SSD, and DirectX 12. The current minimum is aimed at 1080p Low and 30 FPS; the recommended tier is aimed at 1440p Medium and 60 FPS. Use the live Steam table rather than the older AMD or demo-era figures, and treat both performance targets as guidance rather than a guarantee.
