Fallen Village is Chapter 3, “Rendezvous,” in Valor Mortis. This route guide takes you from the Fields Lantern through the Marketplace and Orchard, showing every documented Amber, Ferrofluid upgrade, quest item, weapon, key, shortcut, and the path to the Iron Marshall. The game reportedly has no in-game map, so use Lanterns, buildings, gates, wells, plague pillars, and other named landmarks as your navigation grid.
How to navigate Fallen Village without a map
An unofficial progression reference says Valor Mortis has no in-game map. That is secondary-source information rather than an official developer statement, but it matches the practical way this chapter is laid out: each route is easiest to follow from a Lantern and a landmark.

- Fields Lantern: the scarecrow quest, Lover’s Pendant, Letter with a Drawing, Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade #3, two Amber pickups, and the Blunderbuss.

Lanterns are described by the same unofficial reference as rest, fast-travel, and Catalyst-spending points. Lantern fast travel becomes available after Chapter 2, according to PowerPyx’s whole-game guide. Use a Lantern before a long pickup run so you have a known return point if you die.
Optional pickups before entering Fallen Village
PowerPyx’s Chapter 3 walkthrough includes a short backtracking opportunity before the village proper. If you want a complete chapter clear, handle these items before following the route toward the Abandoned Church.

First Battlefield Lantern: Mysterious Stone Pyramid and Valen Duroc’s Emblem
- Return to the first Battlefield Lantern and pass the camp.
- At the enemy split, take the left branch.
- Shoot the weak wall and defeat the Eternal Guardian.
- Collect the Mysterious Stone Pyramid and Valen Duroc’s Emblem.
Amber #10, Duellist’s Focus, is in a chest behind that enemy. This is optional backtracking rather than a Fallen Village route gate.
Abandoned Church: Rapier #3
At the Abandoned Church, Rapier #3 is stuck in the body blocking the route toward the Village. Take it before proceeding; it is required for progress.
Fields route: Scarecrow quest, shortcut, and Amber pickups
Start at the Fields Lantern. The Scarecrow quest is easiest when you collect both requested items before returning to the scarecrow.

- Find the body tied to the scarecrow post near the Fields Lantern.
- Interact with the body more than once. The additional interaction reveals the items the scarecrow wants.
- Walk toward the barn, then take the right-hand path to the large tree.
- Collect the Lover’s Pendant from the body at the tree’s base.
Use the large-house route for Upgrade #3 and the Lantern shortcut
Continue until you reach the split with a wooden gate and a Grenadier on the right. Take the opposite route toward the large house.
A chest beside the well contains Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade #3. This same large-house route is the shortcut back to the previous Lantern, so unlock and remember it before pushing farther into the fields.

Find the Letter with a Drawing
- Continue past the tall haystacks and defeat the four attacking human enemies.
- Climb the hill on the left and enter the house.
- Go upstairs and take the “Letter with a Drawing” from the table.
- Use the downstairs door to return near the earlier well-side chest.
Finish the scarecrow quest and claim two Ambers
- Return to the scarecrow and give it the Lover’s Pendant and Letter with a Drawing.
- Enter the next field and inspect the barn filled with exploding bodies.
- Open the rear chest for Amber #11, Volatile End.
- Climb to the barn’s top level and interact with the two pillows.
- Completing that interaction awards Amber #12, Bountiful Harvest.
The order matters because the pendant and letter are the quest requirements; the two Amber rewards come from the barn chest and the final pillow interaction.
Defeat the Volunteer and obtain the Blunderbuss
Defeat the Volunteer carrying the large sword. Behind that enemy, search the carriage and take Weapon #4, Blunderbuss, from the table. Picking it up opens the route through the carriage.

Marketplace route: Lullaby, upgrades, Amber #14, and the plague wall
From the Marketplace Lantern, follow the route toward the water and the distant flames. The quest and key sequence below prevents a common backtrack mistake: the Toy is not in the crib house.
Start Lullaby and take the Weathered Key
- Enter the house near the water and flames.
- Approach the empty crib to start “Lullaby.”
- Leave through the back door.
- Pick up the Weathered Key from the ground near the enemies.
Use the Weathered Key to retrieve the Toy
- Return toward the prior area and pass the Volunteer.
- Turn right and cross the river by jumping to the house at the end of the path.
- Unlock that house with the Weathered Key.
- Take the Toy from the bed.
- Return to the house with the crib and place the Toy there.
Completing Lullaby awards Amber #13, Tomorrow’s Promise.
Marketplace Flask upgrade
In the open village area with patrolling enemies, take the first left to a corner house. The chest inside contains Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade #4.

Balcony jump for Amber #14
- Find the house that is under enemy fire.
- Reach its upper floor.
- Jump from the balcony to the chest outside.
- Collect Amber #14, Warrior’s Fury.
Storage Key and the plague-wall weak point
- Go behind the house with the balcony route.
- Descend the ladder into the underground area.
- Take the Storage Key from the box near the two enemies.
- Use the key on the nearby door.
- Reach the weak point inside and use it to clear the plague wall.
The Storage Key is a progression item, not a discretionary chest key: it opens access to the weak point required for clearing the plague wall. The chapter walkthrough places the Iron Marshall encounter after this sequence.
Iron Marshall, Orchard chest, and the onward route
Amber #15 after the Iron Marshall
After defeating the Iron Marshall, enter the building to the right of the arena as you come into the area. Break the boxes, then drop out through the back. A chest there contains Amber #15, Glass Soldier.
Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2 after the second plague pillar
This pickup is separate from the Iron Marshall reward. From the Marketplace Lantern, grapple across the water and pass the two plague pillars with grapple points. Immediately after the second pillar, check the right side for a chest containing Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2. It is a navigation-route pickup, not an Orchard boss reward.

PowerPyx’s whole-game guide, published in 2026, reports 89 collectible locations. Its breakdown is guide-published rather than a developer statistic:

The same guide describes 11 main quests across 10 regions. It also explains that Amber functions as equipment: effects can include health regeneration and bonuses after dodging or parrying. There are 28 unique Ambers, and 15 of those can be upgraded to level 3 by collecting duplicates. The Ambersmith achievement requires obtaining every unique Amber at least once, not upgrading every copy to the maximum level.

Missed items remain collectible in prior areas after the final boss, according to PowerPyx’s 2026 whole-game guide. That makes a post-game cleanup run viable if you miss a balcony jump, quest reward, or optional backtrack. The guide also lists trophy and achievement links for collecting all Ambers and completing selected quests.

The Fields shortcut
The most important shortcut in this chapter is the large-house route at the split opposite the wooden gate and Grenadier. The well-side chest contains Upgrade #3, and the route loops back toward the earlier Lantern. If you are carrying several pickups, open this loop before advancing into the barn section.
Progression gates versus optional rewards
- Required to progress: Rapier #3 at the Abandoned Church and the Storage Key route that exposes the plague-wall weak point.
- Quest-dependent rewards: Amber #12 from The Scarecrow and Amber #13 from Lullaby.
- Optional equipment and upgrades: Amber #10, Upgrade #3, Upgrade #4, Amber #11, Amber #14, Amber #15, the Blunderbuss, and Empty Ferrofluid Flask #2.
Lantern and Catalyst risk
The unofficial progression reference says Catalysts come from kills and chests and can be spent at Lanterns to raise stats. It also reports that unspent Catalysts drop when you die and are permanently lost if you die again before recovering them. Treat that as secondary-source system guidance, but use the conservative strategy it implies: spend Catalysts before a risky expedition and avoid carrying a large unspent balance through the Iron Marshall approach.
Common problems and fixes
The scarecrow does not tell me what it wants
Interact with the body tied to the scarecrow post more than once. A single interaction starts the scene but may not reveal the requested items.
I cannot find the Lover’s Pendant
From the scarecrow, head toward the barn and take the right path to the large tree. The pendant is on the body at the base, not in the barn.
The second Scarecrow reward did not appear
Return both the Lover’s Pendant and Letter with a Drawing first. Then enter the barn with exploding bodies, open the rear chest for Volatile End, climb to the top level, and interact with both pillows. The pillow interaction awards Bountiful Harvest.
The Lullaby house is locked
The Toy is in a different house. Take the Weathered Key from the ground outside the crib house, cross the river by jumping to the house at the end of the path, unlock it, and search the bed.
I reached the plague wall but cannot clear it
Search the underground area behind the balcony house. The Storage Key is on a box near two enemies. Use it on the nearby door to reach the weak point.

I missed Amber #15
Amber #15 is not inside the Iron Marshall arena. After the boss, enter the building to the right, break the boxes, drop out the back, and open the chest. If you already finished the game, PowerPyx’s whole-game guide says earlier areas remain available for cleanup.
