Short answer: start by inspecting q6cb4g if your priority is walking to several bosses, or ugej3o if reaching all three traders on foot matters more. Those labels come from the current Valheim Atlas catalogue; they are candidate seeds, not independently playtested proof of an easy Deep North route. For the best 1.0 experience, Iron Gate recommends creating a fresh world, then checking the northern coastline and route yourself before committing.
Valheim 1.0 launched on September 9, 2026, and introduced the Deep North. A “dream start” is therefore a geography choice: short walks to progression landmarks, convenient traders, a useful coast, and a northern route that matches how much sailing and exploration you want.

Which Valheim 1.0 seed should you try first?
No seed is objectively best for every player. Use the table below as a starting shortlist, then inspect the generated 1.0 map before creating your world.
| Seed | Current Atlas label | Best fit | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
q6cb4g |
“Walk to 5 bosses, 2 traders” | Players who value several walkable progression landmarks and want to minimize early sailing. | The excerpt does not establish that the Deep North, every boss, or every useful destination is close to spawn. |
ugej3o |
“Walk to 3 bosses, all 3 traders” | Players who prefer reliable access to Haldor, Hildir, and the Bog Witch, even if fewer bosses are walkable. | The label does not prove a convenient northern coastline, short Deep North route, or low-risk travel. |
Both codes are worth checking in the current map generator because Valheim’s terrain rules have changed over time. Treat the labels as catalogue descriptions rather than guarantees from a playthrough.

What makes a “dream start” in the Deep North?
The Deep North is a biome introduced with Valheim 1.0, but seeds do not decide whether a biome exists. Valheim Atlas explains that every world contains all nine biomes; the seed changes their placement, size, and distance from your starting point. That makes access—not biome ownership—the useful comparison.
For a Deep North-focused start, judge four separate things:

Count how many boss altars you can reach over connected land and how much water lies between spawn and each one. A seed that puts several bosses within walking range can reduce the number of early expeditions that depend on a boat. That is the main reason q6cb4g appeals to convenience-focused players.
Trading access
Check the positions of Haldor, Hildir, and the Bog Witch. The ugej3o catalogue label specifically claims that all three traders are walkable, which may matter more to a builder or equipment-focused player than the number of walkable bosses.
Travel shape
Look at the coast as a route, not merely as a distance from spawn. A nearby shoreline is useful only if it provides a sensible launch point toward the north. Trace whether land remains connected, whether bays force a long detour, and where you would need to cross open water.
Challenge preference
A compact seed can make progression efficient, while a spread-out seed creates more discovery and sailing. A map can show geography, but it cannot assign combat difficulty to a route. Do not infer that a short line on the map is automatically safe.

- Open the current Atlas world map. Use the version indicator shown above the map rather than assuming that a saved bookmark or old screenshot represents 1.0 terrain.
- Enter the seed exactly. Type
q6cb4gorugej3owith the same capitalization. Atlas notes that changing capitalization can create a different world. - Confirm the generation version. If the map is using an older rule set, do not use its distances to plan a 1.0 world.
- Locate spawn and measure the first ring of destinations. Check the nearest Black Forest, Ocean, Mountains, boss altars, and traders. Record whether each route is continuous land or requires a boat.
- Trace the northern route. Follow the actual coastline from spawn toward the Deep North. Mark a practical embarkation point, possible land bridges, and the first crossings that would put you on an exposed voyage.
- Inspect the fixed landmarks. Compare boss altars and trader icons rather than relying on the catalogue headline alone. Look at distances in the map’s scale and note which destinations are on the same landmass.
- Re-enter the same code in Valheim. Create the world with the identical seed, including capitalization. A typo creates a different geography.
This process turns a promising label into a decision based on your actual priorities. If the northern route is awkward on both candidates, choose the one whose bosses and traders best support your preferred early game and accept a longer voyage later.
How the two catalogue candidates differ
q6cb4g: five walkable bosses and two walkable traders
Atlas presents q6cb4g as “Walk to 5 bosses, 2 traders.” That is the stronger first inspection for a player who wants a largely land-based progression loop. Several nearby boss altars can make it easier to unlock progression without planning a boat trip for every major milestone.
Do not read the label as “the Deep North is next to spawn.” The catalogue excerpt does not establish the distance to that biome, the quality of the northern shoreline, or whether the fifth walkable boss is on a convenient route rather than a long inland detour. Use the map to see whether the walking network and the northbound coast support your intended order of exploration.
ugej3o: three walkable bosses and all three traders
Atlas presents ugej3o as “Walk to 3 bosses, all 3 traders.” This is the better inspection target when trader access is your defining requirement. Having Haldor, Hildir, and the Bog Witch on walkable routes can reduce repeated sailing for purchases and services.
The trade-off is visible in the label itself: three walkable bosses rather than five. That is not a quality ranking. If your play style revolves around building near a trader network, the difference may be worthwhile; if you want to push boss progression with minimal water travel, q6cb4g may fit better. Neither label establishes the distance to the Deep North, so compare that route directly.
What the map can—and cannot—tell you
Atlas converts a text seed into a fixed world layout under a particular set of generation rules. The same seed produces the same geography and fixed structures when the rules match. Valheim has shipped three sets of generation rules, and Atlas notes that boundaries for the Mountains, Mistlands, and Swamp differ between them. That is why the version indicator matters even when the seed text is unchanged.
The map can display fixed structures such as boss altars, traders, and many other landmark types. It does not model creatures, trees, ore, or berries. Those elements are determined during play rather than guaranteed by the seed map.

How much do starting distances vary?
Valheim Atlas reports measurements from 314 worlds to illustrate how widely early geography can vary. These are community-tool observations, not official Iron Gate limits or guarantees for every possible world.
| Destination from spawn | Observed range across 314 measured worlds | How to use the figure |
|---|---|---|
| Nearest Black Forest | 59–592 metres | Use it as a scale for how quickly a seed can move you beyond the starting biome. |
| Nearest Ocean | 94–940 metres | Use it to estimate how soon a boat route becomes available, not to predict a specific shoreline. |
| Nearest Mountains | 144–1,665 metres | Use it to compare early access to mountainous terrain between candidate maps. |
Because these are sample ranges, do not describe 59 metres or 1,665 metres as the universal minimum or maximum in Valheim. Read the measurements as evidence that two otherwise appealing seeds can create very different early travel shapes.
Should you start a fresh world for Valheim 1.0?
Iron Gate’s Valheim 1.0 FAQ, published July 1, 2026, says that existing worlds receive the new content, but biome generation works properly only in areas that have not yet been explored. The developer recommends starting from scratch for the best experience; starting over is recommended, not technically mandatory.
“As usual, your world will receive new content even if it was created before the update, although biome generation will only work properly on areas that have not yet been explored. However, we always recommend that you start the game over from scratch to get the best possible experience.” — Iron Gate, Valheim 1.0 FAQ, July 1, 2026.
The same FAQ answers whether players can head straight for the Deep North: “You can, but it’s our recommendation that you start over.” In practical terms, an old save remains usable, but explored terrain may not be regenerated in the way a new 1.0 world is. A fresh world also lets you evaluate one of the candidate seeds on the same rules that the current Atlas map displays.
When an existing save is reasonable
- You want to keep an established base, character progression, or equipment.
- The areas you care about remain unexplored, allowing new biome generation to work there.
- You accept that previously explored terrain will not be retrofitted into a perfect 1.0 layout.
When a fresh seed is the cleaner choice
- You want the complete 1.0 progression and world layout from the beginning.
- You are specifically comparing Deep North routes, coastlines, and trader placement.
- You would rather avoid planning around terrain generated under an older rule set.
A practical decision framework
After inspecting both maps, decide with a short checklist instead of chasing a single “best” code.

- Choose your non-negotiable. If the main goal is walkable boss progression, begin with
q6cb4g. If it is all-three-trader access, begin withugej3o. - Check the Deep North route. Reject any map whose northern approach requires a sailing pattern you do not want to repeat.
- Check the first boat launch. A coast close to spawn is useful only if it connects to a route you can actually follow north.
- Check land continuity. Count the crossings between spawn, your preferred bosses, traders, and the northern shore.
- Check the version again. A perfect-looking older map is not evidence for 1.0 terrain.
- Lock the exact seed text. Copy the code into the game and keep a note of its capitalization.
If both candidates meet your requirements, choose the one whose route offers the travel experience you want. Convenience and exploration are different goals; neither is universally superior.
Common seed-selection mistakes
Assuming a catalogue label covers every destination
“Walk to 5 bosses, 2 traders” and “Walk to 3 bosses, all 3 traders” summarize selected landmarks. They do not say that every boss, trader, or the Deep North is close. Inspect the omitted destinations yourself.
Using an old screenshot or map version
Generation rules changed across Valheim’s releases. If the Atlas version indicator does not match your 1.0 world, terrain boundaries and distances may differ.
Changing the seed’s capitalization
Seed entry is case-sensitive in practice. Even a capitalization change can produce a different world, so copy the code exactly.
Treating map geography as a safety guarantee
The generator does not place creatures, trees, ore, or berries. It also cannot predict your equipment, weather, or combat outcome. Use it to plan direction and fixed landmarks, not to promise a safe expedition.
Calling one seed a Deep North guarantee
Every world contains the biome; the seed changes access. A “Deep North seed” is shorthand for a world whose route suits your plan, not a special code that unlocks an exclusive biome.
Recommended starting workflow
For most new 1.0 players, the efficient approach is to compare both candidates rather than blindly committing to a code:
- Open the current Atlas map and verify its 1.0 generation indicator.
- Inspect
q6cb4gfor walkable boss routes, then inspectugej3ofor the three-trader network. - Trace each map’s coastline toward the Deep North and note where sailing becomes unavoidable.
- Pick the map that matches your preferred balance of convenience and exploration.
- Create a fresh world with the exact seed text if you want Iron Gate’s recommended 1.0 experience.
- Keep the map open as a planning reference, while remembering that only fixed geography and structures are represented.
The result is a defensible “dream start”: not a claim that one seed is perfect, but a world selected for the distances, traders, land connections, and northern travel style you actually want.
