If you run a phone shop, repair business or resale operation in Italy, start by contacting specialist B2B suppliers and verifying each lot before committing to volume. GSMGO!, Miwo, Twist and OpenTrade describe relevant wholesale or business supply on their own websites; treat them as leads, not endorsements or proof of stock. If you are an individual selling one handset, a trade-in service such as Back Market Italy is a different route.
Choose the right route for your needs
| Need | Route to consider | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Stock for resale or repair | Contact specialist B2B suppliers and request current offers. | Whether they accept your buyer type, lot size, models, grading, provenance, invoice and VAT treatment, delivery, returns and warranty. |
| Sell one personal phone | Compare trade-in or buyback offers. | The final amount after inspection, shipping and any revised offer based on condition. |
| Buy a used phone as a consumer | Buy from a professional trader if you want consumer protections that apply to trader sales. | Seller identity, product description, total price, guarantee and any distance-sale withdrawal terms. |
Public supplier pages do not establish current inventory, competitive pricing, delivery performance or quality. No reliable Italy-specific statistic on used-phone supply volume or supplier performance is established by the available sources.

These are possible leads, not a ranked list: available information does not support a comparison of current prices, minimum orders, delivery, defect rates or warranty handling. Request written terms and consider a small test order before buying a large lot.
What to check before ordering a lot
Ask the supplier to answer these questions in writing. The point is to make the exact stock and your remedies clear before money changes hands.
- Identify the devices: request exact model, storage, colour, network-lock status and quantity by lot.
- Define condition: get the meaning of each cosmetic grade and confirm whether the same criteria apply across the lot.
- Check batteries: ask for the battery-health threshold or replacement policy and the testing method.
- Understand testing and defects: request the functional checks performed, any exclusions, and the process for dead-on-arrival or misgraded units.
- Confirm device status: ask what IMEI or serial records are supplied and how activation locks, blacklists or theft reports are checked.
- Ask about data: establish how data is erased and whether the process is documented.
- Verify provenance and paperwork: request proof of ownership or provenance and confirm whether the seller issues a business invoice.
- Calculate the landed cost: confirm price basis, tax and VAT treatment, shipping, insurance, lead time, minimum order and payment terms.
- Agree remedies: get the return window, warranty and claims procedure in writing.
This is practical due diligence, not a statement that every check is a legal obligation for every transaction. If you are selling one phone
Back Market Italy describes a trade-in process in which a refurbisher makes an offer, the seller ships the device using provided shipping, and the refurbisher inspects it after receipt. If the condition differs from the seller’s description, the refurbisher may make a counteroffer, which the seller can accept or refuse. This is a possible route into resale or refurbishment, not a wholesale account for the person selling the handset. Back Market Italy trade-in information

Any indicative maximum values on the trade-in page can change with model and condition. Compare the net amount offered after inspection and shipping, and account for the possibility of a changed-condition offer rather than treating an advertised figure as a fixed market price.
Consumer protections depend on who is selling
Buying from a professional trader
MIMIT says the buyer and seller of a used good may agree to shorten the legal-responsibility period, but not below one year. This concerns trader-to-consumer transactions; MIMIT says consumer-guarantee rules do not govern sales between businesses or between private individuals. - Fluid 120Hz Display: Features a large 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for smooth scrolling and added durability.
EU guidance also distinguishes a professional trader from a private seller: second-hand goods bought from a trader receive consumer-protection rules, while purchases from private individuals do not receive those EU consumer protections. A seller who appears to be a private individual but is in practice operating as a business may count as a trader. Your Europe guidance on guarantees and returns
Buying at a distance
MIMIT says traders must provide essential information before a distance contract, including the goods’ main characteristics, seller details, total price and withdrawal procedures when applicable. Its guidance notes additional marketplace information duties introduced by Legislative Decree No. 26 of 7 March 2023. Unless otherwise agreed, it describes a maximum 30-day delivery deadline under the Consumer Code. MIMIT distance-selling guidance
MIMIT states: “The objective of the regulation is to guarantee a high level of consumer protection, ensuring transparency, correctness of information and freedom of contractual choice.” This guidance concerns consumer distance and off-premises sales; do not assume it sets the terms of a wholesale transaction.

Consider equipment and producer responsibilities
Phones fall within the broad electrical and electronic equipment (AEE) and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) context. The European Commission says the WEEE Directive requires separate collection and proper treatment, while promoting reuse and recovery of resources. Its EU-wide figures are contextual, not measures of the Italian used-phone market: the Commission reports 5 million tonnes of e-waste collected in 2022 and 11.2 kg collected per person in 2022. European Commission WEEE overview
Italy’s RENAP site identifies the national producer register and an AEE register. If your business imports equipment, places it on the market or sells under its own brand, check with the competent authorities or a qualified adviser whether registration and reporting duties apply to your activity; a general source list cannot determine a particular company’s status.
