URLbox Chrome Extension Not Capturing Pages on Windows? What to Check in India

There is no verified evidence here of a current URLbox extension outage, a Windows compatibility defect, or an India-specific restriction. URLbox’s official materials document its screenshot-rendering service, API and CLI, but do not confirm the extension’s current support status or explain this particular failure. Start with Chrome’s extension controls, record what happens, and ask URLbox whether your extension and browser versions are supported.

First, identify what is failing

A Chrome extension that captures the page open in your browser is a different workflow from a service that opens a URL remotely and renders a screenshot. URLbox documents remote rendering, but that documentation does not establish how its named extension currently behaves. Do not treat remote-rendering errors as the explanation for a local extension failure.

Before changing settings, note the exact extension name and version shown in Chrome, your Chrome version and Windows version, the affected page, and the exact error or result. Record whether it happens on one site or every site. Avoid posting private or sensitive page URLs publicly.

Check Chrome’s extension settings

Confirm the extension is enabled

  1. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions (or select the Extensions menu and choose Manage extensions).
  2. Find the URLbox extension and confirm its switch is on. Record the version displayed on its card.

Review access to the affected site

On the extension’s card, open Details and review its site access setting. If access is limited, check whether the affected site is included and whether Chrome offers an appropriate access choice. Google Chrome Help notes: “Some extensions need permission to read and change site data.” Grant only the access needed for the task; broad website access can expose sensitive data. See Google’s Install and manage extensions guidance and its explanation of extension permission scope.

Use Repair only if Chrome offers it

If Chrome identifies the extension as corrupted and presents a Repair action, follow Chrome’s repair flow from the extension management area. This is a general Chrome recovery step, not a confirmed URLbox-specific fix. Avoid changing unrelated Windows security settings on the assumption that they caused the problem.

Determine whether the failure is page-specific

Try the capture on a second, ordinary webpage that does not contain private information, then compare the result. Note whether the extension fails on every page or only one. This comparison is a diagnostic suggestion, not a URLbox-confirmed procedure; a difference can help support understand the conditions without proving a cause.

  • One page fails: include that page’s address in a private support report and describe what appears instead of a capture.
  • Every page fails: say so, and include the extension, Chrome and Windows versions along with the exact steps and error.
  • No error appears: describe the visible behavior, such as no response, a blank result, or a capture that never completes.

Contact URLbox with useful diagnostic details

URLbox’s screenshot support guidance asks for artifacts such as a render link, API options, image URL or request ID. An extension-only problem may not produce those artifacts, so send the practical details you do have: extension name and version, Chrome version, Windows version, affected page (shared privately if needed), exact error or observed behavior, whether it affects one or all pages, and reproducible steps. Use the contact options on Urlbox’s support page. Ask specifically whether the extension is currently maintained and supported on your Chrome and Windows versions, and whether support is available for your region.

When URLbox API or CLI is a different option

If your goal is automated screenshots of URLs rather than capturing the active local tab, URLbox separately documents an API and a CLI. The CLI installation guide lists Windows via Scoop. These are separate workflows, not repairs for the extension, and they may not fit a task that depends on the current browser tab or its signed-in session. URLbox’s CLI documentation and render-options documentation describe remote-rendering setup and options such as waiting for page elements.

For remote rendering specifically, URLbox documents possible automated-browser challenges, including CAPTCHA pages, HTTP 403 or 429 responses, or nearly blank output; geography is one possible factor in blocking. That does not establish a cause for a local extension failure, and it is not evidence that India is responsible. If you are using a remote render and see one of these results, report the actual output and request details to support rather than assuming the extension is at fault.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need a screenshot from a URL rather than a capture of the active local tab, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. For example, using cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request details. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. This is a remote URL workflow, not a fix for capturing the active Chrome tab. Sign up for free.
