Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the recommendations and characterized their focus as faster decisions, lower compliance costs, automated refunds and trust-based administration. He also referred to removal of arrest provisions, greater decriminalisation and simpler procedures. How to state the legal status in an exam answer
Separate a Council recommendation from a change that is legally operative. Before writing that a tax or compliance rule has changed, check the relevant notification or legislation and its effective date. Until that step is verified, describe the item as a recommendation or as the Prime Minister’s characterization of the recommendations.
Useful institutional context
The GST Council is a joint forum of the Centre and states under Article 279A of the Constitution. That context can help frame an answer about the institution, but it should not be used to infer the content or implementation status of the 57th meeting’s recommendations.

What is known about the Green Card Programme report?
Secondary reports mention a US suspension affecting some employers’ Green Card-related filings, but the available information does not establish the exact programme or filing pathway, the employers covered, the effective date, the government’s stated rationale, or whether the measure remains in force as of 9 October 2026. Treat the reported suspension as unconfirmed rather than presenting its scope or status as fact.

A Green Card denotes US permanent-resident status; it is not the same thing as a temporary work visa. Employer labor-certification filings are also distinct from other immigration petitions. Without an official notice identifying the process at issue, do not collapse these categories into a claim that the United States suspended Green Cards generally.
