Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was reported on October 3, 2026, to have announced that 50,000 meritorious women in the final year of graduation are expected to receive scooties next month. If the schedule holds, distribution would take place in November 2026 under the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme; no confirmed delivery date or completed distribution was reported.
What was announced?
Hindustan Times reported that Adityanath announced scooties for 50,000 meritorious women students in their final year of graduation. The report says the scheme was approved by the state cabinet in July 2026. It describes the distribution as planned for “next month” from the October 3 announcement, making November 2026 the expected period—not a confirmed date.
The report paraphrases the scooty announcement; it does not provide a separate verbatim statement from the Chief Minister about the vehicles. Hindustan Times’ October 3 report is the source for the announced count, timing and student group.
Who is reported to be eligible?
The reported target group is meritorious women students who are in the final year of graduation and are natives of Uttar Pradesh. The report says selection will cover 5% of meritorious women students in each university and college.

The announced figure is 50,000 students. “Next month” refers to November 2026 when counted from October 3, but the available report does not give a specific distribution day or confirm that deliveries have begun or taken place.

What is known about the scheme’s budget and approval?
Hindustan Times says the cabinet approved the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme in July 2026. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet archive lists decision releases, including one dated July 6, 2026, but the archive listing available here does not provide scheme-specific operating rules.
A separate Uttar Pradesh government budget communication states that ₹400 crore was allocated for the Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme in the 2025–26 budget. That is an earlier fiscal-year allocation; it is not confirmation of the cost or funding for the newly reported distribution.

What has not been specified?
The available announcement coverage does not explain how students apply or are nominated, what documents are required, how institutions will identify recipients, or when final recipient lists will be published. It also does not identify the scooter make or model, its fuel or power type, procurement arrangements, or any delivery conditions. Students should rely on a formal state or institution notice for those operational details rather than assume that a general scholarship application is also a scooty-scheme application.

Hindustan Times also attributed scholarship-related remarks to Adityanath at the October 3 event: “The CM said there is no shortage of funds for students; every eligible child will receive a scholarship, and those who have missed out should apply soon.” That statement concerns scholarships, not eligibility for the scooty scheme or a guarantee of vehicle distribution.
