UP Board reported 5,204,713 registrations for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, 132,719 fewer than the 5,337,432 registered for 2026. The net drop came from Class 12: Class 10 registrations increased slightly. Hindustan Times reported the figures on 2 October 2026, attributing them to UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh.
How many students registered for UP Board 2027?
The reported combined total is 5,204,713, or about 52.05 lakh, across the High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) examinations. Compared with 2026, the total is lower by 132,719.
| Examination | 2026 registrations | 2027 registrations | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 10 | 2,761,972 | 2,775,741 | Up 13,769 |
| Class 12 | 2,575,460 | 2,428,972 | Down 146,488 |
| Combined | 5,337,432 | 5,204,713 | Down 132,719 |
These totals and class-wise figures were reported by Hindustan Times on 2 October 2026. The overall change is a net decline, not a fall in both grades: Class 10 added 13,769 registrations, while Class 12 lost 146,488.
Why did registrations fall?
Officials attributed the decrease mainly to fewer students needing to re-enrol after passing the 2026 examinations. Hindustan Times reported 2026 pass rates of 90.42% for Class 10 and 80.38% for Class 12, and relayed the officials’ explanation that fewer failures would mean fewer repeat candidates.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That is an explanation offered by officials, not a measured breakdown of the change. The report does not specify how many 2027 registrants are repeaters or separate first-time candidates from repeat candidates, so it does not establish that pass rates were the sole reason for the decline.
What the figures do—and do not—say about other grades
The board also reported 5,037,530 registrations for Class 9 and Class 11 by the 30 September 2026 deadline, up 91,396 year over year. Those are registrations for pipeline classes, not candidates registered for the 2027 board examinations. Their increase shows why the Class 10 and 12 decline should not be read as a fall across every grade.

Where candidates can check registration instructions
UPMSP’s official website lists separate online routes for regular and private candidates taking the 2027 examinations. It also provides links to student curricula, model papers, question banks and books. The site lists a revised examination application timetable dated 10 September 2026.
The board’s homepage confirms the registration process and routes, but the aggregate totals discussed above were reported by Hindustan Times rather than displayed on the homepage material reviewed. For application steps, record corrections or deadlines, candidates should rely on the latest notices on the official board site. Hindustan Times reported an 8 October 2026 deadline for schools to verify or update details including names, parents’ details, dates of birth, gender, subject choices and photographs; check current UPMSP notices to confirm whether that deadline or any later instruction applies.
