Is GoBalance confirmed vulnerable, and which versions are affected?
No GoBalance-specific confirmation is established by the available sources. There is no identified official security advisory, maintainer statement, documented reproduction, affected-version list, or patch. That means operators cannot use this evidence to determine whether a particular GoBalance release or configuration is vulnerable, or whether an upgrade would address the alleged issue.
The Tor Project’s Onionbalance security documentation concerns Onionbalance, a tool for load-balancing Tor onion services. It discusses topics including master-key isolation and operational risk, but it is general background—not a GoBalance advisory and not confirmation of this claim.

Why would onion private-key exposure matter?
A 2021 paper by Paul Syverson, Matthew Finkel, Saba Eskandarian, and Dan Boneh explains that onion addresses encode their own public key and are self-authenticating. That makes a corresponding private key important: if a key were actually compromised, the consequences could be significant. The paper explains this security context; it does not validate the reported GoBalance key-recovery technique.

The available sources do not establish that rotation is necessary, which versions to upgrade from, or whether a particular change would close the alleged flaw. - Check for a GoBalance advisory or maintainer statement that identifies affected versions and configurations.
- Look for a documented fix and whether maintainers say key rotation is required, rather than inferring that from the post.
- If you have evidence of a compromise, handle it as an incident and consult qualified Tor security support; the Reddit allegation alone does not establish that an incident occurred.
