Samsung does not offer a single “reset account ID” function. People who search for that phrase usually need one of three different things: they have forgotten their account ID, they have forgotten their password, or they want to replace the email address attached to the account. Each job has its own route, and choosing the right one first saves time. Samsung’s support pages label these as Forgot ID / Find ID for ID retrieval, Forgot password for password recovery, and Email ID inside account profile settings for changing the registered address.
Identify which problem you have
Work out which of the following describes your situation before you start. The routes below are not interchangeable, and the verification you can complete depends on what was set up when the account was created.

Find a forgotten account ID
Samsung’s India guide describes two routes: a Forgot ID option on the device, and a web-based recovery page. Samsung’s Gulf guide uses the web route. Exact screens and the information requested can vary by region and account setup.

- Open Settings, then tap Samsung account.
- Tap Forgot password or don’t have an account?
- Choose Forgot ID and follow the prompts. Samsung India describes receiving an email hint and recovering the ID through a secondary email address or phone number that was registered earlier.
On the web recovery page
- Open Samsung’s account recovery page for your region. The Gulf version is at https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/apps-services/how-can-i-find-my-samsung-account-id-or-password-if-i-forgot-it/, and the India version is at https://www.samsung.com/in/support/apps-services/how-can-i-find-my-id-or-password-if-i-forget-it/.
- Select Find your Samsung account ID.
- Enter the phone number or email address associated with the account.
- Check for the confirmation message, which is sent to the contact you entered.
If you no longer have access to the linked email address or phone number, Samsung advises contacting support rather than repeating the search.

Reset a forgotten password
Start from the Samsung account sign-in or recovery page. Choose Forgot password, enter your account ID, and then complete whichever verification Samsung offers for your account. Samsung’s reviewed regional guidance mentions four possibilities:
- The primary email address on the account.
- A recovery email address you registered earlier.
- A recovery phone number you registered earlier.
- A security question that was already configured.
Not every method will appear for every account. Recovery email, recovery phone, and security questions only work if they were set up beforehand. In some countries, Samsung also supports signing in with a mobile phone ID or resetting through a phone-based flow; Samsung’s India guide describes the phone route as asking for the account birth date, sending a code to the registered number, and then letting you set a new password.

After the password is changed, Samsung’s India and Canada help pages say you may choose whether to stay signed in or sign out on other devices. Those pages also list the services tied to a Samsung account, including Samsung Cloud, Samsung Pass, and Samsung Find. The support material does not say that a reset deletes cloud data, so do not assume it does.
Change the email address on the account
If you can already sign in, you can replace the registered email. This is separate from recovering an ID or resetting a password, and Samsung’s US sign-in guidance describes it as follows:

- Sign in to your Samsung account in a browser. The US troubleshooting page is at https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10001565/.
- Complete any verification Samsung requests.
- Go to Profile > Manage Samsung account > Email ID.
- Enter the new email address and select Change.
If the change option fails, Samsung says to contact support.
When your verification methods are no longer available
Two-step verification is where most recovery attempts stall. Samsung US says that if a code cannot be received on another device, the sign-in flow may offer text-message or backup-code options, and it also describes a route for changing the phone number on the account. Which of these appear depends on how the account is set up.

Samsung UK addresses mandatory two-step verification directly and gives the clearest instruction for the hardest case:
“If you no longer have access to both the email address and the phone number used to create your Samsung account, you’ll need to contact Samsung Customer Support.” (Samsung UK support, “How to recover your Samsung Account or reset your password,” updated June 20, 2026.)

Have the email address you originally used to create the account and any old phone numbers ready when you contact support, because those are the details they can use to confirm ownership.

Because the menus and verification choices differ by country, check the page for your own region if the labels you see do not match these instructions.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Searching for a “reset ID” option. Samsung uses Find ID for recovering an ID, not for resetting one.
- Requesting a password reset before confirming your ID. The flow needs the account ID first.
- Assuming a recovery phone or security question is set up. If you never registered it, the option will not appear.
- Changing the email while signed in on an unfamiliar device without first confirming the account is yours.
