- On the phone, look for a notification/dialog from Android like Allow USB debugging?
- Check Always allow from this computer if you trust the machine.
- Tap Allow.
Now verify on your computer:
- Open a terminal/command prompt.

ADB works once, then stops
- Check whether USB debugging was turned off after a system update.
- Try disabling and re-enabling USB debugging.
- Restart the phone and the computer.
- On some setups, toggling airplane mode or changing USB connection mode can help only if the phone UI prompts you to switch modes.
- Run
adb devicesagain after reconnecting.
If your workflow includes frequent reconnects, keep “Always allow from this computer” checked so you don’t have to re-authorize every time.

- Platform-tools too old: update to a newer platform-tools version so it supports newer Android security requirements.

No. USB debugging (ADB) is separate from bootloader OEM unlocking. OEM unlocking matters for flashing certain partitions and unlocking the bootloader, not for basic ADB access.
