Usually, no. Under Best Buy’s policy effective February 23, 2026, most standard customers have 15 days from the day they receive a product to return or exchange it. A late return may still fall under a different category, membership term, seller rule, or special promotion, so check the order details and the current policy before assuming it is eligible.
How long do I have to return a Best Buy purchase?
The clock starts when you receive the product—not necessarily when you place the order. The standard periods are:

These are policy windows, not guarantees of acceptance. Other restrictions can still apply even when the return is timely.
Will they accept returns after 15 days?
For a product covered by the standard 15-day rule, Best Buy generally does not promise acceptance after the deadline. First determine whether your situation actually uses that window:

- Check whether you had an eligible My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total membership at the time of purchase.
- Identify the exact product category. Activatable devices can have a 14-day or, for eligible Verizon devices, 30-day period.
- Confirm whether Best Buy sold the item or a Marketplace Seller did. The 60-day membership extension is expressly excluded for Marketplace purchases.
If the published deadline has passed, contact Best Buy support or the seller named on the order for a case-specific answer. The policy does not establish a general right to a late return or require a manager to approve one.
What can make a timely return ineligible?
Nonreturnable and opened products
Best Buy lists products that cannot be returned at all and others that become nonreturnable once opened. Read the entry for your exact product rather than relying only on the number of days.

Condition requirements
Best Buy states that “Items need to be returned in a like-new condition.” Missing parts, damage, dents, scratches, unsanitary condition, or other signs that the item is not complete can lead to refusal.
Restocking fees
Some eligible returns can incur a fee. Best Buy lists a $45 restocking fee for activatable devices other than prepaid phones, and a 15% fee for listed products such as drones, digital cameras, camera lenses, camcorders, and projectors. The policy also identifies exceptions, including unopened products and certain locations or legal restrictions, so verify the product-specific entry before returning.

Shipping restrictions
Some hazardous materials and products with rechargeable batteries missing their original battery cannot be shipped through the normal mail-return process. That restriction is separate from whether the item is within the return window.
How to return an eligible purchase
Return it to a store
- Bring the product, required accessories, packaging where available, and your receipt or order details to a Best Buy store.
- Ask the associate to verify the item’s category, seller, return deadline, condition, and any fee.
- Keep the return receipt until the refund or exchange is complete.
Mail it with a prepaid label
- Start the return from the qualifying order in Best Buy’s online account or return workflow.
- Use the prepaid label supplied for the eligible purchase and follow the packing and shipping instructions.
- Retain the carrier receipt and tracking information.
Not every item qualifies for mail return, and shipping exclusions apply. Best Buy says mailed returns are processed within 7–10 business days after the item is received. After processing, the bank or payment account can take up to 10 additional days to show the credit.

What about holiday purchases?
Best Buy’s holiday FAQ for the 2025 season extended purchases made October 31 through December 31, 2025, through January 15, 2026, subject to exclusions including certain third-party-contract items and holiday products. That extension has expired and should not be treated as a current benefit for a 2026 purchase. A later holiday season may have different dates.

- Receipt date: What date did you receive or collect the product?
- Membership: Were you using My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total, and is the item eligible?
- Seller: Does the order show Best Buy or a Marketplace Seller?
- Category: Is it an activatable device or another category with a special period?
- Condition: Is it complete and like new, with no damage or missing accessories?
- Restrictions: Is it nonreturnable, opened under an exclusion, subject to a restocking fee, or blocked from shipping?
- Channel: Can it be returned in a store, by mail, or only through the seller?

Can I return something to Best Buy after 15 days if it is unopened?
An unopened item may avoid certain restocking fees, but unopened status does not automatically extend the return deadline. The product category, membership, seller, and any nonreturnable-item rule still control.
