To unbind a DJI drone in DJI Fly, sign in to the account currently linked to it, connect the app to the aircraft and remote controller, then open Profile > Device Management > Remove Device from Account and confirm. If the drone is still linked to a previous owner, that account holder must remove the binding; DJI says they can do so remotely.
Before you remove a DJI account binding
Unbinding removes the aircraft’s association with its current DJI account. If you are selling or gifting the drone, complete the removal before handing it over. If you are keeping it, note that DJI Care Refresh’s flyaway service depends on the aircraft being bound to the DJI account and the remote controller being bound to the aircraft. - Connect DJI Fly to the aircraft and remote controller.
- Open Profile > Device Management.
- Select Remove Device from Account.
- Review the device-binding information, tap Next, and confirm the removal.

If the drone is still bound to someone else’s account
The previous account holder must release the binding. DJI Support states that “only the account owner has the right to unbind the drone with the associated account.” The previous owner can remove the binding remotely; the physical aircraft does not need to be connected for that step. What to do if you can contact the seller
- Ask the seller or previous owner to sign in to the account bound to the aircraft and unbind it.
- After the binding is released, sign in with your own DJI account and bind the aircraft.
- Bind the remote controller to the aircraft after binding the aircraft to your account.
What if the previous owner cannot be reached?
DJI provides an application route that asks the original account holder to release the binding. It starts a request; it does not let DJI force the removal. If the account holder refuses or does not respond, DJI says it cannot complete the unbinding. For a marketplace purchase, contact the seller, dealer, or marketplace and ask them to reach the previous owner. Avoid treating a request submission as proof that the drone has been released.

Unbind a device in DJI Pilot 2
DJI Pilot 2 uses different menu wording from DJI Fly. Sign in to the account currently bound to the device, open Device Management, choose Delete Device, review the binding information, proceed, and confirm. DJI Pilot 2 binding and unbinding guide
Unbinding a remote controller is a separate operation in Pilot 2: use Unbind Device in Device Management. DJI’s guide says the aircraft and controller should be connected normally for this controller operation.

Unbinding is not account-data transfer
DJI says account data cannot currently be transferred or combined. To associate the aircraft with another account, the existing device binding must be removed and the aircraft then bound to the new account. DJI account information guidance
