Small loads can bunch to one side, while bulky, absorbent items can tangle; either can make a Samsung washer shake, thump, walk, or stop spinning. If the problem continues, check the washer’s installation and stability, then use the manual for your exact model to interpret any code or calibration instructions.
Start with the laundry
Pause the washer and, when it is safe to open, separate tangled items and spread them around the drum. A small load may have collected on one side; a bulky item such as bedding may have formed a heavy wad. Rearrange the load, close the door, and restart the cycle. Samsung recommends reducing spin speed when that may help a bulky load. Follow the cycle guidance and capacity limits in your model’s manual rather than treating any example load size as universal. If the washer repeatedly struggles with a very small load, add suitable items to distribute the weight or choose a lower spin speed if the cycle allows it. Do not overload the drum in an attempt to make it balance.
Check for shipping bolts if it is a new front-loader
If the shaking started after installation, check the back of a front-load washer for shipping bolts. Samsung says, “Before using your front load washing machine, you must remove the shipping bolts from the back.” Follow the full-model-number manual for the bolt count and locations; remove the bolts and spacers as directed, fit the supplied hole covers, and store the hardware for a future move. The details vary by model. Samsung top-load washers do not have these shipping bolts. See Samsung’s installation guidance.

This is an external installation check, not a reason to dismantle the machine. If the bolts are already removed, move on to checking the floor and feet.
Make sure the washer is stable and has clearance
The washer should sit on a firm, level surface, have space around it, and rest securely on all feet. Carpet or another soft surface can contribute to vibration, and Samsung notes that some vibration may remain when a pedestal or riser is used. In its US shaking guidance, Samsung recommends one inch of space between the washer and a wall and between the washer and dryer. Keep the machine from touching nearby objects that could amplify noise or movement. Samsung’s US guidance and its Philippines leveling instructions provide setup details.

- With the washer empty and the cycle stopped, gently rock the cabinet. It should not wobble; all four corners should have firm contact with the floor.
- If it rocks, adjust the leveling feet according to the manual for your full model number. Keep the feet as short as practical while ensuring they all touch the floor, then secure any locking nuts as directed.
- Use a small level on the washer if available, but do not rely on the level alone: the washer must also sit firmly on every foot without rocking. A level is optional; the contact and rocking checks do not require buying one.
- Run a small test load and check whether the movement has stopped. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
Samsung says front-load models have four adjustable legs and locking nuts; top-load models differ in how many legs adjust. Follow the manual rather than assuming the feet are identical across models.

Samsung’s US code guide lists dc*, Ub, U6, Ur, UE, 1 Ub, and 1U6 among unbalanced-load indications. For an unbalance code, untangle and rearrange the laundry, close the door, and restart. Ur can mean the washer is adding water and automatically retrying balance before spinning, which can extend the cycle.

Do not diagnose from the code alone: Samsung warns that dc means an unbalanced load on some models but can indicate a door error on others. Look up the code in the manual for the washer’s full model number or consult Samsung’s error-code guide.
Calibrate only when your model supports it
Some Samsung models offer a calibration mode, but availability and button combinations vary. Check the exact user manual, empty the drum, and follow only the procedure it specifies. Do not try a button combination intended for another model. Samsung’s guidance says service is required if the tub does not spin during the described calibration process. The Samsung shaking guide provides the model-dependent caveat.
When to contact Samsung Support
Request service through Samsung Support if the washer still vibrates after you have corrected the load, checked the installation and feet, and followed any applicable model-specific calibration. Avoid attempting internal repairs based on the symptom alone; the documented checks do not establish that a particular internal component has failed.
