What the UGREEN e-ink case does
The case puts a color e-ink display on the back of the phone. You choose an image from your phone’s gallery or create one in the UGREEN app, then transfer it to the case using NFC. That makes the rear panel suited to displaying a chosen photo or graphic; current coverage does not describe it as a general-purpose screen for apps, notifications, or reading.

Gizmochina reported on October 3, 2026, that the panel measures 3.7 inches and uses six particle colors: black, white, red, yellow, blue, and green. Images are not full-color in the same way as a phone’s OLED screen; the reported palette is limited to those six colors.

According to Gizmochina’s account of UGREEN’s product details, sending an image takes about 20 seconds and the display refresh takes another 20 seconds—roughly 40 seconds for the reported process. These are reported estimates, not independent timing measurements.

The same report says the image remains visible without power and can still be seen when the phone is switched off. It also describes a side button that disconnects the NFC antenna. Gizmochina says contactless card tapping and phone payments continue to work when the antenna is disconnected; that behavior has not been independently established in the available coverage.
Compatible iPhones, price, and availability
Notebookcheck reported compatibility with the iPhone 17 Pro series and iPhone 18 Pro series in October 2026; its earlier September coverage specifically named the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The available reporting does not provide a complete official compatibility table. Before ordering, confirm that the listing explicitly supports your exact iPhone model and size.

Gizmochina and Notebookcheck reported a China launch price of CNY 279, with approximate conversions of about US$40–41 at the time of their reports. That is a reported China price, not a guaranteed price in another market. Both outlets said an international release had not been confirmed or that global launch timing was unclear. Treat any overseas listing as a separate seller offer, and verify stock, shipping, return terms, and model fit rather than assuming it is an official global launch.

Construction and protection claims
Gizmochina reported three color options—matte black, fog white, and burgundy—and a construction using TPU, PC, and microfiber. Its account also describes a metal camera button, a separate NFC button, cushioning at all four corners, and raised lips around the phone screen and camera. The reported rises are about 1 mm at the screen and 0.7 mm at the camera lenses.

Those details describe the product’s construction, not a verified drop-test result. The available coverage does not establish a protection rating or show that the case has passed an independent impact test, so the raised edges and corner cushioning should not be treated as proof of a particular level of drop protection.

Not for reading, based on the reported use. The UGREEN case is presented as a way to display a chosen image, while attachable e-ink accessories such as the Xteink X4 Pro are discussed as reading-oriented products. TechRadar’s September 18, 2026 coverage compares the UGREEN case with the Xteink X4 Pro but does not make them equivalent devices: their intended uses differ.

If you are considering an e-ink accessory, compare it by what you want to do. For a persistent photo on the back of a compatible iPhone, the UGREEN case fits that description.
