The two-bay DXP2800 costs less and is the more sensible choice when two SATA drives meet your needs. Both are diskless, so include the cost of drives when comparing what you will actually spend.

What the extra $237 buys
The main practical difference is capacity to expand: the DXP2800 has two SATA bays, while the DXP4800 Plus has four. More bays let you add drives and give you more RAID configuration choices, but they do not make extra storage free. The Plus’s stated maximum of 144TB is a vendor-listed configuration, not a promise of usable capacity after RAID; UGREEN describes the DXP2800 as supporting up to 80TB.

Does the DXP4800 Plus’s 10GbE matter?
Only if the rest of your network and workload can take advantage of it. UGREEN says the connected computer, switch or direct link, cable, drives and workload all affect transfer speeds. Actual results can be lower because of network overhead, RAID configuration, file size, protocol and drive performance. A 10GbE port by itself does not guarantee 10GbE file-copy speeds.

- 【10GbE Speed for Creators & Heavy Workflows】Powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded R2514, 4 cores, 8 threads, up to 3.70GHz, with 8GB DDR4 RAM expandable to 64GB, 10GbE networking, and high-speed SSD expansion, DXP2800 GT accelerates backups, large photo libraries, media streaming, file sharing, Docker apps, and multi-device access. View live feeds, record 24/7 footage, review events, and manage security videos from one platform. Recordings stay stored locally under your control, helping you avoid rising cloud storage and camera subscription fees while keeping important footage easy to access across your devices.
- 【Local Privacy with Multi-Layer Protection】Keep your data private by storing it at home instead of relying on the cloud. DXP2800 GT helps protect photos, documents, videos, and backups with TLS/SSL, RSA, AES, and SHA-512 encryption technologies. Built-in Security Manager help safeguard your data, while RAID 1 support provides redundancy to help reduce the risk of data loss if a drive encounters a problem.
- 【80TB Capacity for Your Growing Digital Life】DXP2800 GT supports 2 SATA drives up to 32TB each, with up to 2 of the same bays compatible with U.2 NVMe SSDs, plus up to 16TB via 2 M.2 SSDs, for up to 80TB total capacity. Store photos, phone videos, work files, movies, security footage, and smart home data in one place. Free up phones and computers, stop relying on scattered external drives, and say goodbye to “storage full” stress. Drives not included. Purchase HDDs/SSDs from a third party.
If your computers and network use 2.5GbE or slower, the DXP2800’s 2.5GbE port may be sufficient. The Plus still has a 2.5GbE port, so its 10GbE option is extra headroom rather than a requirement for using the NAS.

Choose the DXP2800 if two drives are enough
- You want a lower-cost enclosure for a modest photo library, backup target or media collection.
- You expect two SATA drives to meet your storage needs.
- You do not need 10GbE, and the DXP4800 Plus’s additional bays and memory ceiling do not justify its premium for your setup.
Choose the DXP4800 Plus if you need room to grow
- You want four SATA bays for additional drives or more RAID choices.
- You expect to benefit from the listed 64GB memory ceiling rather than the DXP2800’s 16GB ceiling. The specifications alone do not establish how either model performs on a particular workload.
- You already have 10GbE-capable equipment and a storage workload that can use it.
Compare the full setup cost
Neither NAS includes hard drives. Add compatible SATA drives to the enclosure price, and budget separately for any optional SSDs or UPS. The Plus’s four-bay advantage is most useful if you plan to populate more bays; buying extra drives to use that capacity adds to its total cost. The article does not establish drive prices, so the enclosure-price difference alone is not the full system-cost difference.

How strong is this deal comparison?
This is a price-and-specification comparison, not a controlled performance test. TechRadar says it has not fully reviewed either model itself. Its reported Amazon buyer ratings and review counts can change and should not be treated as a substitute for workload-specific testing. The listed processor and memory specifications are useful for comparing upgrade headroom, but they do not prove which NAS will be faster for your own file sharing, backups or media tasks.
