The reports identify Coinbase Prime as the Bitcoin destination and a new wallet as the BNB destination. They do not confirm a sale or provide an official explanation for the transfers.
What moved, and where did it go?
CoinDesk reported transfers on October 6, 2026, and Unchained supplied the quantities, contemporaneous valuations and reported destinations. The dollar figures reflect prices at the time of reporting and can change; the token quantities are the more durable measure.

Unchained put the combined reported value at about $103.19 million. These are news-report figures, not totals confirmed by a government statement. CoinDesk reported the movements and noted that no sale had been confirmed; Unchained reported the amounts, valuations and destinations.
Has the government sold the Bitcoin or BNB?
No sale was confirmed in the October 7 reports. A deposit to Coinbase Prime identifies where the BTC was reportedly sent; by itself, it does not establish that the Bitcoin was sold or liquidated. The BNB was reported as going to a new wallet, not to an exchange. The destination alone does not establish what happened next to either asset.

Why did the wallets move the assets?
No official government explanation for these specific transfers was included in the reports. The available reporting does not establish whether the movement was for custody, an internal transfer, liquidation, reserve policy or another purpose. Those possibilities should not be treated as explanations of this transaction without confirmation.
What does “U.S. government-linked” mean?
The phrase describes wallet attribution used by blockchain analytics and news reporting; it is not proof that a named federal agency directly controlled each wallet. Arkham Intelligence explains that its U.S. Government entity groups wallets linked to federal agencies and distinguishes that broad attribution from the narrower Bitcoin figure returned for the U.S. Marshals Service.
