The yellow battery icon means Low Power Mode is on; it does not indicate battery damage. Turn the mode off in Settings: iPhone 15 and later use Settings > Battery > Power Mode, while iPhone 14 and earlier use Settings > Battery. Apple says it also turns off automatically once your iPhone is charged to 80% or higher.
Turn off Low Power Mode in Settings
- On iPhone 15 and later: Open Settings > Battery > Power Mode, then switch off Low Power Mode.
- On iPhone 14 and earlier: Open Settings > Battery, then switch off Low Power Mode.
Apple documents these paths in its Low Power Mode instructions. Menu labels can vary by language or iOS version.

Other ways to switch it off
- Control Center: Use the Low Power Mode control if it is available. You may need to add it to Control Center first; Apple’s power modes guide describes the current options.
- Siri: Ask Siri to turn off Low Power Mode.
- Charging: Apple says Low Power Mode switches off automatically when the battery reaches 80% or higher. You do not have to wait for this threshold if you want to turn it off manually.
What changes when you turn it off?
Low Power Mode conserves battery by reducing background activity and changing some iPhone behavior. Apple lists reduced display brightness, some visual effects being turned off, Auto-Lock set to 30 seconds, iCloud Photos temporarily paused, automatic downloads and email fetch turned off, and Background App Refresh turned off. Some tasks may also run more slowly. Disabling the mode removes these power-saving restrictions, but may increase battery use.

Why the icon may turn yellow again
The yellow icon means Low Power Mode is active, regardless of how it was enabled. Apple describes Adaptive Power as a separate feature: on supported iPhone 15 Pro or later models, it can make automatic adjustments and, when enabled, can turn on Low Power Mode below 20% battery.
