A TV’s built-in picture-in-picture (PIP) feature is usually turned off with the TV’s own PIP control; if the picture comes from a Spectrum box or another connected device, use that device’s controls. A Spectrum remote that can control your TV does not necessarily have the model-specific PIP command.
First identify where the small picture comes from
PIP can be generated by the TV itself or by a cable box or another connected video device. The control you need depends on the source, so avoid trying a guessed Spectrum remote sequence before identifying it. Sony’s guidance distinguishes TV PIP from PIP created by connected equipment: Sony’s PIP troubleshooting instructions.

- If the smaller picture appears over ordinary TV viewing, try the TV’s PIP control first.
- If it stays after you turn off the TV’s PIP, check whether the Spectrum box or another connected device is producing it.
Turn off PIP on the TV
- Find the TV remote and look for a button labeled PIP or PIP OFF.
- If there is a PIP OFF button, press it once. If there is only a PIP button, press it repeatedly until the smaller window disappears.
- If neither method works, consult the TV’s manual or support instructions for the exact model. PIP controls vary by TV; Sony’s button guidance is specific to supported Sony models and should not be assumed to apply to other brands.
If the small picture remains, the TV’s built-in PIP may not be its source. Check the device supplying the picture and use that device’s instructions rather than continuing to press TV or Spectrum remote buttons.
Find your Spectrum remote model before using its instructions
Spectrum supports several remote types, with instructions organized by model. To identify yours, open the battery cover and read the model number inside. Then use Spectrum’s remote programming instructions for that model. These instructions help identify and program the remote; they do not establish that every Spectrum remote has the TV’s PIP command.

If you use a Xumo Stream Box
An archived Spectrum Community answer from a verified employee moderator, posted in October 2023, said Xumo did not have traditional PIP, though a smaller view appeared on the guide page. The discussion is archived and warns that its content may be outdated, so treat this as historical guidance rather than a guarantee of current Xumo behavior: Spectrum Community’s PIP discussion.
