To turn off a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, press and hold the Side and Volume down buttons together until the Power menu appears. Tap Power off, then tap it again to confirm. If the screen responds, you can also open Quick Settings and use its Power icon.

Use Quick Settings instead

Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to open Quick Settings.

Tap the Power icon near Settings.

Choose Power off, then confirm by tapping Power off again.

If the phone is frozen or will not turn off
A forced restart is a fallback for an unresponsive phone, not the usual shutdown procedure. Press and hold the Side/Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously until the device shuts down; Samsung says this may take up to 60 seconds. If the phone restarts but the problem continues, follow Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance for a Galaxy phone that will not turn off and contact its Support Center.

Turn the S22 Ultra back on
Press and hold the Side button to turn the phone back on. If Bixby Voice is already set up, you can also press and hold the Side button to call Bixby and say, “Turn off the phone.”
