TSMC Reports Oct. 15: What Its Results Can—and Can’t—Tell Us About NVIDIA’s Next Quarter

TSMC’s October 15, 2026, earnings report is a useful early read on semiconductor demand and production conditions ahead of NVIDIA’s next-quarter results—but it is not a direct report on NVIDIA. TSMC has already disclosed September revenue and its Q3 guidance; its upcoming results can show whether broad foundry growth and margins are tracking to plan. NVIDIA’s own $108.0 billion Q3 FY2027 revenue outlook remains the more direct benchmark.

When does TSMC report, and what is already known?

TSMC’s Q3 2026 earnings conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026. The company’s financial calendar also lists the event. TSMC observed its quiet period from October 5 through October 14, according to its Q3 results page and financial calendar.

Before that conference, TSMC reported September consolidated revenue of NT$511.86 billion: down 0.6% from August but up 54.6% from September 2025. Revenue for January through September 2026 was NT$3,898.73 billion, up 41.1% year over year. Those figures come from TSMC’s September 2026 revenue filing.

The contrast matters: September sales were far higher than a year earlier, while slipping slightly from the prior month. One month’s company-wide revenue cannot establish whether demand for any one customer’s products is accelerating or slowing.

What TSMC’s Q3 guidance sets up

TSMC guided Q3 2026 net revenue to US$44.6–45.8 billion, with a gross margin of 65.0%–67.0% and an operating margin of 56.0%–58.0%. These are the company’s guidance ranges, not reported Q3 actuals. The October 15 release will let investors compare results with those benchmarks.

Measure TSMC Q3 2026 guidance What to check in the report
Net revenue US$44.6–45.8 billion Whether actual revenue is within, above, or below the range
Gross margin 65.0%–67.0% Whether margin performance accompanies the revenue result
Operating margin 56.0%–58.0% Whether operating profitability tracks the guided range

Revenue and margins should be read together. A revenue result near or above guidance would indicate that TSMC met or exceeded its company-wide sales benchmark; margins add information about profitability. Neither result, on its own, identifies NVIDIA’s shipments.

Why the report is relevant to NVIDIA

TSMC manufactures chips for customers, while NVIDIA reports sales of its own products. TSMC’s quarterly revenue, margins, and management commentary can therefore add context about foundry demand and production conditions that matter to the semiconductor supply chain. In its Q2 2026 earnings release, TSMC CFO Wendell Huang said, “Our business in the second quarter was supported by strong demand for our leading-edge process technologies.” That was a company-level description of Q2 support, not a statement about NVIDIA specifically. See TSMC’s Q2 2026 release.

The connection is informative, but not one-to-one. TSMC’s published monthly revenue is company-wide, and the reviewed disclosures do not give a customer-level revenue figure or quantify how much of TSMC’s quarterly revenue comes from NVIDIA. NVIDIA also identifies reliance on third parties for manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and testing as a factor that may affect results in its Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q. That makes supply-chain execution relevant, without providing customer-specific visibility.

  • Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

NVIDIA’s own outlook is the direct benchmark

NVIDIA reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 18% sequentially and 106% year over year. Data Center revenue was $89.0 billion, up 18% sequentially and 117% year over year, according to its Q2 FY2027 results release.

For Q3 FY2027, NVIDIA guided to revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, and gross margin of 74.0%, plus or minus 50 basis points. The revenue outlook did not assume Data Center compute revenue from China. These are NVIDIA’s own outlook figures, not Q3 results. The company’s financial reports provide the company-level disclosures to use when assessing NVIDIA’s performance.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang characterized the moment this way in the results release: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.” That is management’s view, not independent proof of demand.

How to read the October 15 results

  • Compare actual revenue with guidance. Place TSMC’s Q3 result against its US$44.6–45.8 billion range rather than treating a large year-over-year increase as sufficient on its own.
  • Look at both time comparisons. September revenue was up sharply year over year but slightly down from August. Check whether the quarterly and monthly trends together suggest continuing growth or a weakening sequential pattern.
  • Read margins alongside sales. Compare gross and operating margins with their guided ranges to understand whether revenue performance came with profitability near expectations.
  • Separate broad demand signals from customer-specific proof. Management commentary can help explain company-wide demand or production conditions. It cannot establish NVIDIA-specific output unless TSMC discloses that information.
  • Keep NVIDIA’s forecast distinct. TSMC’s report is context for NVIDIA’s supply chain; it does not revise NVIDIA’s $108.0 billion Q3 FY2027 revenue outlook.

What the report cannot tell you yet

As of October 11, 2026, TSMC had not published Q3 actual results or the October 15 conference commentary; the event was still scheduled for that date. NVIDIA’s Q3 FY2027 actual results are likewise not established by the cited results release, so its $108.0 billion figure should be treated as guidance, not a reported outcome.

Most importantly, the available TSMC disclosures do not quantify NVIDIA’s contribution to TSMC revenue or disclose NVIDIA-specific shipments. A precise customer contribution should not be inferred from TSMC’s total sales, margins, or broad demand comments.
