Short answer: Both are complete active stereo systems with amplification and network streaming built in, so neither requires a separate amplifier or streamer for basic use. Choose the Triangle Capella 2 if you want a separate hub with three optical inputs, USB-B, stereo RCA, TV/ARC and a configurable subwoofer output, plus WiSA speaker links. Choose the KEF LS50 Wireless II if HDMI eARC, its Uni-Q/MAT driver design, a documented wired interspeaker mode, or its particular streaming-service mix matters more. Their published specifications and prices are close enough that your sources, room layout and preferred sound should decide the purchase—not wattage alone.
At a glance
The Triangle Capella 2 and KEF LS50 Wireless II are both pairs of powered speakers with digital processing, amplification and network playback integrated. Their system architectures differ, however: Triangle puts most source connections in a separate Stereo Hub 2, while KEF places the inputs and controls around one primary speaker.

Triangle Capella 2: a hub-centered layout
Triangle describes Capella 2 as an active bass-reflex stereo pair with integrated DSP and a separate Stereo Hub 2. You connect television, digital, analog and network sources to the hub, then the hub sends audio wirelessly to the speakers using WiSA. Because there is no speaker-to-speaker signal cable in the stated architecture, the speakers can be placed on opposite sides of a room without routing an interconnect between them. The hub still needs its own power and a practical location near your sources or network connection.

Each speaker uses a 25 mm horn tweeter with a magnesium-alloy dome and a 16 cm mid-bass driver with a cellulose-pulp cone. Triangle specifies bi-amplification of 2 × 50 W per speaker, for 100 W total per speaker. These are manufacturer specifications rather than independent measurements.
KEF LS50 Wireless II: the primary-speaker control center
KEF calls the LS50 Wireless II an all-in-one active wireless speaker system. The primary speaker carries the physical source inputs, network connection and system control; the second speaker receives the interspeaker signal either wirelessly or through an Ethernet cable. This arrangement keeps the source hardware concentrated at one speaker rather than in a separate hub.
The driver is KEF’s 12th-generation Uni-Q array: a 130 mm (5.25-inch) aluminum low-frequency driver surrounding a 25 mm (1-inch) vented aluminum high-frequency dome with Metamaterial Absorption Technology. KEF specifies 280 W Class D amplification for low frequencies and 100 W Class AB amplification for high frequencies in each speaker.

Television and home-theater sources
Triangle’s hub lists TV/ARC with CEC. A television must provide an ARC-capable HDMI port for this connection, and CEC allows compatible control commands such as volume changes to pass between devices. The published Triangle list does not identify eARC.
KEF lists HDMI eARC. An eARC-equipped television can send higher-bandwidth formats than ordinary ARC, subject to the television’s output settings and the source material. If your TV has only optical output, both systems list optical connectivity, but the physical location differs: optical cables terminate at Triangle’s hub or KEF’s primary speaker.

Optical, coaxial and USB digital sources
Capella 2 provides three optical inputs, one coaxial input, USB-B and USB-A on the Stereo Hub 2. Three optical sockets are useful when several devices—such as a television, game console and disc player—must remain connected at once.
LS50 Wireless II lists one TOSLINK optical input, one digital coaxial input and USB-A service connectivity. The product page does not describe USB-A as a general music input, so do not plan a computer playback workflow around that socket without confirming KEF’s current documentation.

Analog equipment and turntables
Triangle lists stereo RCA on the hub. KEF lists a 3.5 mm auxiliary input. Neither published connection list identifies a phono input. If your turntable uses a conventional low-output cartridge, budget for a phono stage; if it has a built-in phono preamp or line output, verify the correct cable and level before connecting it.
Network and subwoofer connections
Both systems provide wired network connectivity through an RJ45/Ethernet connection as well as Wi-Fi. Triangle lists a configurable subwoofer output on the hub. KEF lists an RCA subwoofer output on the primary speaker. A subwoofer is optional in both designs; the output gives you an upgrade path if your room or listening level calls for deeper low bass.
Streaming and wireless playback
Both products support AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon Ready and UPnP/network playback. Bluetooth is also available, but the versions differ: Triangle lists Bluetooth 5.2, while KEF lists Bluetooth 5.0.

Triangle’s WiSA arrangement
With Capella 2, the Stereo Hub 2 sends audio to both speakers over WiSA. Triangle describes the link as high-resolution, but the cited product information does not provide a directly comparable resolution figure. The practical benefit is a clean room layout: sources terminate at the hub, and no signal cable is required between the left and right speakers. You still need power at each speaker and a reliable wireless environment for the hub-to-speaker connection.
KEF wireless or wired mode
KEF’s FAQ states that the wireless interspeaker distance can reach up to 8 m depending on network conditions. KEF also allows an Ethernet cable between the speakers, up to 10 m, and says the supplied cable can support 192 kHz/24-bit resolution. If the wireless link is unstable, KEF directs users to connect the cable and enable Cable Mode in the app. The wired option requires a visible or concealed cable route, but it removes one variable from a congested wireless setup.
Practical placement checklist
- Place the speakers symmetrically around the listening position, with tweeters near ear height.
- Leave enough clearance for the rear bass-reflex ports and avoid pushing either cabinet tightly into a corner.
- Keep the Triangle hub or KEF primary speaker close enough to every source you intend to use.
- Use a wired network connection when your router is distant, wireless congestion is severe or you want the most predictable setup.
- Measure the intended speaker-to-speaker distance before deciding whether KEF’s wireless or cable mode is more practical.
Published specifications and what they do—and do not—tell you
| Specification | Triangle Capella 2 | KEF LS50 Wireless II |
|---|---|---|
| Low/high-frequency drivers | 25 mm horn tweeter with magnesium-alloy dome; 16 cm cellulose-pulp mid-bass driver | 130 mm (5.25 in.) aluminum LF driver; 25 mm (1 in.) vented aluminum HF dome with Metamaterial Absorption Technology |
| Amplification per speaker | 2 × 50 W bi-amplified, 100 W total | 280 W Class D LF + 100 W Class AB HF, 380 W total |
| Frequency response | 42 Hz–22 kHz (±3 dB) | 45 Hz–28 kHz (±3 dB), with response dependent on EQ settings |
| Maximum SPL | Not listed on the cited product specification | 108 dB at 1 m |
The KEF system has a higher published amplifier total and a maximum-SPL figure, while Triangle publishes a lower bass extension figure. Neither fact establishes superior sound quality. Amplifier wattage depends on driver sensitivity, impedance, DSP limits, thermal management and how the manufacturer defines the number. Frequency-response limits do not describe bass texture, distortion, room gain or how the speaker behaves at high output. KEF also explicitly qualifies its response figure by EQ settings.
Use these numbers to check broad suitability—such as whether a manufacturer claims extension into the low-40-Hz region—not to predict which pair will sound more controlled or musical in your room.

Setup workflows
Triangle Capella 2
- Place each speaker on a stable stand or shelf, observing the recommended clearance from walls and corners.
- Put the Stereo Hub 2 where your television, source components and network cable can reach it.
- Connect the hub to power and connect each speaker to its own power outlet.
- Connect the television or other sources to the hub’s labeled TV/ARC, optical, coaxial, USB or RCA inputs.
- Join the hub to Wi-Fi or its RJ45 network connection, then complete the speaker-pairing procedure described in Triangle’s current documentation.
- Set the television to output audio through ARC when using the TV connection, and verify CEC behavior if you want the TV remote to control volume.
- Add a subwoofer to the configurable output only after the main speakers are working; configure crossover or level settings in the system controls rather than guessing from the published response range.
KEF LS50 Wireless II
- Place the primary speaker near your television, source components or network cable, and position the second speaker to form a balanced stereo triangle.
- Connect both speakers to power and decide whether to start with the wireless interspeaker link.
- Install the KEF Connect app, add the speakers to your network and follow its room, EQ and source configuration prompts.
- Connect HDMI eARC, optical, coaxial or 3.5 mm sources to the primary speaker as appropriate.
- If wireless interspeaker operation is unstable or you need the documented 192 kHz/24-bit link, connect the supplied Ethernet interspeaker cable and enable Cable Mode in the app.
- Configure streaming services and network playback, then test television volume control and any subwoofer connected to the RCA output.
Which system fits common buying situations?
You have several optical devices
Triangle is the more straightforward physical match because its hub lists three optical inputs. KEF lists one optical input, so an optical switch or a different connection may be necessary if several devices must stay connected simultaneously.
Your television has HDMI eARC
KEF has the direct eARC connection listed on its primary speaker. Triangle lists TV/ARC with CEC, which may still work well with an ARC-equipped television but is not the same published interface.
You want sources hidden in a cabinet
Triangle’s separate hub can keep a source cluster away from the speakers, provided the hub-to-speaker wireless path is reliable. KEF concentrates sources at one speaker, which can be tidier when that speaker already sits beside the television but less convenient when the equipment rack is elsewhere.
You prefer a wired interspeaker backup
KEF documents both wireless operation and a cable up to 10 m, including a Cable Mode setting and 192 kHz/24-bit support. Triangle’s cited information specifies WiSA wireless communication and does not document an equivalent user-selectable wired interspeaker mode.

Your music library depends on a particular service
Check the service lists rather than assuming broad platform support is identical. Triangle specifically lists Spotify Connect Lossless and Qobuz Connect. KEF lists Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, internet radio and podcasts. Country availability and future support are not guaranteed by the product pages.

- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
You plan to add a subwoofer
Both systems provide a subwoofer output, so neither requires a separate high-level speaker connection. Triangle’s output is described as configurable on the hub; KEF’s is an RCA output on the primary speaker. Consider cable length and the location of the hub or primary speaker when planning the subwoofer position.
Your turntable is central to the system
Triangle offers stereo RCA on the hub; KEF offers a 3.5 mm analog input. In either case, verify that the turntable provides line-level output or add an appropriate phono stage. The published input lists do not identify a built-in phono input.
Bass, loudness and subjective sound
Readers often reduce this choice to whether a pair has “enough bass” or “controlled bass.” The published data can narrow expectations but cannot answer that question by itself. Triangle claims 42 Hz–22 kHz (±3 dB), while KEF claims 45 Hz–28 kHz (±3 dB) and 108 dB maximum SPL at 1 m. Room dimensions, wall proximity, listening distance, EQ settings, program material and subwoofer integration will affect the result more than the headline numbers suggest.

One-click scans. No signup required.
Do not treat KEF’s 380 W per-speaker figure as proof that it will sound better, or Triangle’s 42 Hz lower limit as proof that it will produce deeper or tighter bass in every room. The specifications use different measurement conventions and do not include a shared distortion, compression or in-room test.
Independent listening comments are subjective. For example, a T3 reviewer wrote that “Extended functionality and some lively new finishes make the Triangle Capella 2 an even more compelling option that the model it replaces.” That is a reviewer’s opinion, not a laboratory finding or a controlled comparison with the KEF; it should not be read as evidence that Triangle is objectively better sounding.
If sound preference is decisive, audition both pairs in the same room at matched volume. Use familiar recordings that expose vocal balance, bass lines, cymbals and spatial placement, and make sure each system is using comparable source quality and sensible EQ settings.
Price and buying context
| System | US manufacturer page price | Price timing and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Triangle Capella 2 | $2,900 per pair | Displayed on Triangle’s US page on October 13, 2026; market-specific and subject to change |
| KEF LS50 Wireless II | $2,999.99 per pair | Displayed on KEF’s US page on October 13, 2026; market-specific and subject to change |
The displayed manufacturer prices differ by $99.99 at that snapshot, so taxes, shipping, discounts, stock and retailer pricing can easily outweigh the nominal gap. Confirm the current currency and total delivered cost for your location before ordering. Optional floor stands are available for the KEF system, but the product information does not make them a requirement; any stand should put the tweeters at an appropriate height and provide stable support.
A practical decision framework
- List every source. Mark whether each device needs HDMI ARC/eARC, optical, coaxial, USB or analog input.
- Choose the connection center. Select Triangle if a separate hub with multiple optical sockets and RCA is easier for your rack; select KEF if concentrating sources at one primary speaker suits the room.
- Check the television port. HDMI eARC favors KEF’s listed connection; ARC with CEC can work with Triangle’s TV/ARC input.
- Check the speaker distance. For KEF, compare your layout with the documented 8 m wireless guideline and 10 m cable option. For Triangle, plan for a reliable WiSA path and power at both speakers.
- Verify streaming services in your country. Compare the exact services you use instead of relying on the broad labels “network streaming” or “wireless.”
- Plan bass expansion. Both include a subwoofer output, but the output’s location affects cable routing and placement.
- Audition before deciding on sound. Specifications can confirm compatibility and broad capability; only a comparable listening session can reveal which voicing suits you.
Bottom line
Capella 2 is the logical choice when its Stereo Hub 2 solves your source-routing problem—especially with multiple optical devices, RCA equipment or a desire to keep the electronics away from the speakers. LS50 Wireless II is the better fit when HDMI eARC, KEF’s documented wired interspeaker mode, its Uni-Q/MAT driver architecture or its listed streaming services align with your system. At nearly identical US manufacturer-listed prices, compatibility and room logistics are the decisive differences. Treat the published power, response and SPL figures as specifications to understand, not as a substitute for auditioning both systems with familiar music.
