Trezor says the move is precautionary: it has reported no compromised Trezor devices from CryptoBilis, while affected Trezor partners will stop receiving new stock and lose authorization on January 1, 2027.
What Trezor is changing
The Block reported on October 13, 2026, that Trezor removed CryptoBilis from its reseller list and is reducing the number of companies allowed to sell its products. The reported partner terms apply beyond CryptoBilis, but the available reporting does not identify every reseller affected or quantify the size of the reduction.

| Reported change | Timing or condition |
|---|---|
| CryptoBilis removed from Trezor’s reseller list | Reported after the Ledger incident |
| Broader reseller-network reduction | Affected partners lose authorization on January 1, 2027 |
| New inventory for affected partners | No additional Trezor stock will be supplied |
| Existing inventory | Reportedly may be sold until January 1, 2027 |
That schedule means an affected shop could remain able to sell genuine inventory already in its warehouse during the transition, even though it would no longer be authorized to receive new products. The reporting does not establish that CryptoBilis is the only Trezor partner being removed.
Why Trezor is reducing resellers
Trezor Chief Commercial Officer Danny Sanders described the action, as quoted by The Block from a partner letter, as “a preventive step, taken out of an abundance of caution.” He also said: “There is not a single piece of evidence that Trezor devices have been compromised.”

Trezor’s reported position about CryptoBilis is specific: the company had no reports of tampered Trezor devices from that reseller. That statement is not a guarantee that every distribution channel is risk-free; it says that Trezor had no reported tampering cases tied to CryptoBilis.
What happened to Ledger devices sold through CryptoBilis
The incident prompting the reseller review concerns Ledger products, not a confirmed compromise of Trezor wallets. The Block reported that Ledger confirmed an unauthorized implant in a hardware wallet sold through CryptoBilis. According to the report, the implant captured a recovery phrase during setup and transmitted it over LTE.

The same report attributed to Ledger the statement that confirmed cases involved devices sold through CryptoBilis. Ledger said its own systems and direct sales channels were unaffected, according to that coverage. These technical and scope descriptions are reported company statements; the underlying primary technical post was not available in the material for this article.
Reported losses remain estimates
CoinMarketCap Academy reported Bitquery’s estimate that about $102 million was taken from 324 wallets across six blockchains. It also reported that Tether froze $10 million in USDT. Those figures are attributed estimates from 2026 reporting, not a final loss total confirmed by Ledger or an independently settled accounting of the incident.

Was a Trezor wallet compromised?
No confirmed Trezor compromise is identified in the available reporting. Trezor said it had no reports of tampered Trezor devices from CryptoBilis, and Sanders said there was no evidence that Trezor devices had been compromised. The company’s reseller reduction is therefore a preventive supply-chain decision made in the context of the Ledger case, not an announcement of a Trezor device breach.
What buyers should check before purchasing
Reseller authorization can change during the transition, so a store that previously appeared legitimate should not automatically be treated as authorized. Before paying, verify the current status through Trezor’s own seller information and compare the identity shown at checkout with the authorized business name.

- Open Trezor’s current authorized-reseller listing immediately before purchase.
- Check that the legal or trading name on the seller listing matches the seller shown on the product page, checkout screen and receipt.
- Prefer a manufacturer-operated store or a seller whose authorization is current, rather than relying only on a marketplace badge or an old review.
- Inspect packaging and device integrity on arrival, and follow the manufacturer’s setup and authenticity checks before transferring funds.
- If a device arrives opened, altered, or with unexpected instructions, do not enter a recovery phrase; contact the manufacturer through its official support channel.
An existing inventory allowance through January 1, 2027 does not by itself prove that every unit sold by an affected reseller is altered or unsafe. It does mean buyers should confirm the seller’s current authorization and preserve purchase records in case a supply-chain question arises.

- The full list of Trezor resellers losing authorization has not been published in the available reports.
- The total number or percentage of partners being removed has not been stated.
- The underlying Trezor partner letter and Ledger’s primary technical statement are not included in the available source material.
- The final amount lost in the Ledger incident remains unsettled; the $102 million figure is a Bitquery estimate reported by CoinMarketCap Academy.
Bottom line for current owners and buyers
Trezor’s action is a precautionary tightening of distribution after a separate Ledger incident linked by reported company statements to CryptoBilis. There is no reported evidence here that Trezor devices were compromised. Buyers should treat authorization as a current, checkable status, verify the seller identity at checkout, and avoid entering a recovery phrase on any device whose packaging or setup process appears abnormal.
