Trentar, the technology and infrastructure arm of Dorf Ketal Group, says it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra for a proposed 500 MW green, integrated hyperscale data-centre project worth ₹30,000 crore (about $3.3 billion, as given by the company). The MoU is signed. The facility is not built, and no site, start date or commissioning date has been announced.
What was announced
In a company release dated 6 October 2026, Trentar said the MoU was exchanged during the Invest Maharashtra initiative and formally handed over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. PTI and industry outlets reported the signing the same day.

| Item | What Trentar says |
|---|---|
| Counterparty | Government of Maharashtra |
| Proposed investment | ₹30,000 crore (≈$3.3 billion, company figure) |
| Proposed capacity | 500 MW |
| Renewable target | At least 51% of energy from renewable sources |
| Intended uses | Big-data analytics, large-scale processing, HPC, AI and machine learning; ETEnergyWorld also lists cloud and other data-intensive applications |
| Site | Not named by the company |
| Timeline, financing close, contractors, suppliers, tenants | Not stated |
All of these are proposal figures. They are not evidence of funds deployed or capacity built.
What the MoU does and doesn’t mean
According to the release, the state will facilitate coordination on applicable permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances and incentives under prevailing policies and regulations. The release also says a state Letter of Intent outlines the applicable support and incentives.
#1 Best Overall
- Save valuable floor space: 6U wall mount server cabinet Dimensions: 13.78" H x21.65" W x17.72" D.Maximum mounting depth is 14.2"
- Keep critical network equipment secure: glass door and side panels are lockable to prevent unauthorized access. Front door can be installed on either side of the front of the cabinet to satisfy your door swing orientation preference
- Easy equipment configuration: Fully adjustable mounting rails and numbered U positions, with square holes for easy equipment mounting with top and bottom punch-out panels for easy cable access
- Durability: Made of high quality cold rolled steel holds up to 110lb (50kg) (Easy Assembly Required)
- PCI & HIPPA and EIA/ECA-310-E compliant
That wording is about facilitation. It does not establish that every approval has been granted or that incentives are unconditional. An MoU of this kind signals intent from both sides; land, power connections, environmental clearances and financing still have to be worked through.
Where will it be built?
Trentar’s release does not name a location. PTI reported that officials described Navi Mumbai as a likely region, so treat that as an attributed possibility, not a confirmed site. An earlier Economic Times report the same day said the MoU was still expected and that land evaluation was ongoing. Trentar’s later release and the PTI and trade reports say it was signed, so the signed status is the current one.

Energy, water and cooling
Renewable energy
Trentar says the project is designed to source at least 51% of its energy from renewable sources, and intends to integrate energy storage, power systems, resource management and digital technologies. The 51% is a design target; no generation mix, supplier or power-purchase arrangement has been disclosed.
Water and cooling
The company is evaluating treated-water reuse and water-efficient cooling. Final technology choices are to follow detailed design and feasibility studies, so neither a specific cooling system nor water reuse should be treated as selected. No independent water-use or emissions figures have been published.

Who is Trentar?
Trentar describes itself as Dorf Ketal Group’s technology and infrastructure arm, and presents the project as the group’s move into large-scale digital infrastructure, including AI and high-performance computing. Group Founder and Vice Chairman Subodh Menon said: “Maharashtra has laid a strong foundation for India’s digital economy, and we are proud to contribute to the State’s next phase of growth.”
He also described a “modular Data Center campus built for rapid deployment and scalable growth, with sustainability, advanced technology and cost efficiency at its core.” That is the company’s description of its intended approach, not a verified performance claim.
How it compares with Adani’s Maharashtra proposal
In 2024, Adani Group described a separate Maharashtra proposal of 1 GW and ₹50,000 crore over ten years. On headline scale, Trentar’s 500 MW and ₹30,000 crore is smaller. These announcements alone say nothing about comparable project economics, likelihood of completion, environmental performance or execution progress, so the comparison shouldn’t be read as a ranking.
