Transit is a first-person, single-player narrative adventure from Copenhagen independent studio Fable Systems. Its new trailer, shown in Insider Gaming’s 28 Games Later Horror Showcase, follows a search for a missing sister through a looping Nordic metro where routes, memories and timelines keep changing. There is no combat: the game is built around exploration, listening, dialogue and consequential choices.

What is Transit?

Transit takes place in 1994 and casts the player as someone trying to find a missing sister inside a dark, unstable underground network. Stations and train routes can recur in different time states, turning familiar spaces into shifting versions of themselves. Fable Systems describes the experience as a story-led adventure in which conversations and decisions can alter what happens next.

The mystery reaches beyond a conventional missing-person case. The announcement points to Quantum’s experiments with memory, time and the boundary between life and death. Along the way, players help lost souls confront their pasts. The tone combines Nordic-noir atmosphere, folklore, analogue nostalgia and dream logic, according to the game’s announcement and the trailer coverage.

How the trailer’s “train” hook fits the game

The title’s train imagery is more than a setting detail. Transit uses the metro as a repeating, unreliable space: the same route or station may return with a different history, mood or outcome. That structure supports a mystery about memory and fractured timelines while giving the player environmental clues to interpret rather than enemies to defeat.

28 Years Later - Blu-ray + Digital
  • Decades after the rage virus outbreak, survivors live in isolation. When one leaves his ruthlessly quarantined island sanctuary, he uncovers haunting secrets and mutations in both the infected and the remaining humans. From director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland comes a bold return to the world of 28 Days Later.

Mr. Sock is the guide

A hand-animated sock puppet called Mr. Sock accompanies the player. Fable presents him as a sarcastic companion, giving the otherwise bleak journey a vein of dark humor. His role is part guide, part conversational counterweight to the game’s themes of guilt, trauma and death.

Gameplay: exploration instead of combat

Transit is designed for players who prefer narrative investigation to action systems. The developer identifies exploration, listening and choices as its central activities, and says there is no combat or score to chase.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - Blu-ray + Digital
  • Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship - with consequences that could change the world as they know it - and Spike's encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can't escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival - the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.
  • Explore: follow metro lines and examine stations that can change across time states.
  • Listen and talk: conversations provide context and can affect later events.
  • Make choices: decisions contribute to different outcomes and multiple endings.
  • Read the atmosphere: folklore, analogue-era details and dream logic carry much of the storytelling.

Fable estimates a playthrough at around six hours. That is an approximate developer estimate; the official page does not state when it was measured, so it should not be treated as an independently tested completion time.

The developer also flags content involving trauma, guilt and fictional character deaths. Players looking for combat, multiplayer or a lighthearted story should not expect those elements here. Mr. Sock’s sarcasm supplies dark humor, but it does not make the subject matter light.
