TP-Link has not confirmed a U.S. assembly plant or a domestic-production schedule for Wi-Fi 8 routers. The company announced its Archer 8 platform for an October 2026 launch, but U.S. availability remains uncertain because new products still require FCC approval and early preorders have excluded the United States.
What TP-Link actually announced
On May 28, 2026, TP-Link Systems introduced Archer 8 as its first consumer Wi-Fi 8 router platform. It is built around the emerging IEEE 802.11bn specification and is intended to keep connections more consistent when networks are congested, interference is high, or many devices are active at once.

“But what users actually care about is consistency. Archer 8 is designed to deliver exactly that: lower latency, better performance under interference, and more stable connectivity in real world environments,” said Jeff Barney, president of TP-Link Systems Inc.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Is TP-Link assembling Wi-Fi 8 routers in the United States?
That claim is not established by the available reporting. Tom’s Hardware reported that TP-Link had not secured FCC approval for all-new U.S. products and that routers intended for the American market are produced in countries including Vietnam. Those facts do not prove where future Archer 8 units will be assembled, but they provide no support for a confirmed U.S. Wi-Fi 8 plant.
A September report also said global Archer 8 preorders opened in the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and other markets while the United States was left off the launch list. Existing FCC-certified products can continue to be sold, but that is different from approval for a new Wi-Fi 8 model. Until TP-Link announces a facility or a U.S. manufacturing agreement and the exact router receives FCC authorization, “as soon as next year” should be treated as an unverified possibility rather than a schedule.

| Claim | TP-Link’s stated result | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Enhanced modulation and coding | Up to 33% higher throughput | Vendor laboratory result; not an independent benchmark. |
| Unequal modulation technologies | Up to 24% higher throughput | Actual gains depend on compatible clients and network conditions. |
| Multiple access points under interference | Up to 15% higher throughput | Applies to the tested multi-access-point scenario. |
| Single device across multiple floors | Up to 30% signal-performance improvement | Controlled test result; building materials and layout can change outcomes. |
| Multiple-device environments | 10–20% signal-performance improvement | Range is a vendor estimate from internal testing. |
| 5 GHz and 6 GHz receive sensitivity | 1–3 dB improvement | Measured sensitivity change, not a guaranteed range increase. |
TP-Link cautions that client hardware, interference, the physical environment and network configuration affect real-world performance. Wi-Fi 8 benefits also require compatible phones, laptops, tablets or other client devices; early buyers may have few such devices.
What FCC status means for U.S. buyers
For a new wireless router, a U.S. launch requires the exact product to complete the applicable Federal Communications Commission authorization process. A platform announcement or approval of an older model does not automatically authorize Archer 8 hardware. A listing that appears in another country therefore cannot be treated as proof that the same model is legal or supported for U.S. sale.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Check the exact model number, not just the Archer 8 family name. A U.S. buyer should verify an FCC authorization, a U.S. product page, local warranty support and a retailer that actually ships the approved version. Imported units can have different firmware, power settings, channel support and warranty terms.
Should you wait for Wi-Fi 8 or buy Wi-Fi 7?
| Your situation | More practical choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You need a faster or more reliable network now | Buy a currently approved Wi-Fi 7 router | Availability, firmware maturity and client support are clearer today. |
| Your existing router meets your needs and you have few Wi-Fi 8 clients | Wait | Early Wi-Fi 8 benefits may be limited until compatible devices become common. |
| You run a crowded home, game competitively or use several access points | Compare tested Wi-Fi 7 options now; monitor Archer 8 | Wi-Fi 8’s reliability focus could help, but TP-Link’s percentages are internal claims. |
| You need 10 Gbps LAN capacity | Check the complete wired setup | A 10 Gbps port helps only if your broadband service, switches, cabling and clients can use it. |
What to check before purchasing Archer 8
- Regional authorization: Confirm that the exact model is approved and sold in your country.
- Client compatibility: Count the devices that can use Wi-Fi 8 features rather than assuming every device will improve.
- Wired bottlenecks: Match any 10 Gbps port to your internet plan, Ethernet cabling, switch and storage or workstation hardware.
- Firmware maturity: First-generation hardware based on an emerging standard may receive frequent updates and changes.
- Total cost: Include compatible clients, multi-gigabit switches and access points if you want to realize the platform’s advertised capabilities.
- Return and warranty terms: Be especially cautious with imports from regions where TP-Link offers different support.
What would confirm a U.S. launch or assembly plan?
Look for three separate pieces of evidence: a TP-Link announcement naming a U.S. facility or manufacturing partner, an FCC authorization for the precise Archer 8 model, and a U.S. retail listing with a stated release date. None of those items, as described in the available September reporting, establishes a domestic assembly timetable.

For now, Archer 8 is a real announced product family with an October 2026 target, while a U.S. assembly operation and a confirmed American release remain unresolved. Buyers who need dependable connectivity should base a purchase on approved hardware and available compatible clients, not on the unverified “as soon as next year” manufacturing claim.
