The TP-Link Deco 7 Pro BE13000 is a three-node Wi-Fi 7 mesh system that stands out in Tom’s Hardware’s 6 GHz tests but delivers more ordinary results on 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. At the review-time price of $399 for the three-pack, it offered strong value for buyers prioritizing coverage who did not need paid security features. Its mixed-speed Ethernet ports and subscription costs make the fit less compelling for some homes.
What the BE13000 is—and what its Wi-Fi 7 rating means
The BE13000 is a tri-band mesh system supporting Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz. TP-Link lists maximum physical rates of 688 Mbps, 3,891 Mbps, and 8,647 Mbps on those bands, respectively. These theoretical rates are not expected single-device internet speeds: actual throughput depends on the client, network conditions, and environment. TP-Link’s US product page also lists features such as Multi-Link Operation, 320 MHz channels on 6 GHz, 4K-QAM, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Multi-RUs, and BSS Color. Feature support requires compatible clients, and local rules can restrict channel widths.

TP-Link rates the three-pack for coverage of up to 8,100 square feet, but labels actual coverage as variable rather than guaranteed. Building materials, obstacles, interference, client limitations, and other conditions affect results. The company also lists support for up to 200 connected devices based on laboratory simulation; that is not a promise of capacity in every home.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow it performed in Tom’s Hardware’s tests
Tom’s Hardware tested the system using iPerf3 with a Windows 11 desktop and an MSI Herald-BE Wi-Fi 7 adapter as the client, and a Windows 11 Pro server with a 10 GbE card connected to the Deco’s 5 GbE port. Tests were run at six and 25 feet, both without added traffic and while six wireless clients streamed 4K YouTube video across the bands. The results describe that test setup, not a guaranteed outcome in another home.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Band | Review result | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| 6 GHz | At six feet, 2,200 Mbps without added traffic and more than 2,100 Mbps under congestion. At 25 feet, roughly half the close-range result without added traffic and nearly 1,100 Mbps under congestion. | The BE13000 led the two comparison systems in both traffic conditions in the review. |
| 5 GHz | 1,113 Mbps at six feet and 701 Mbps at 25 feet without added traffic. | It ranked third at close range and second at distance against the MSI Roamii BE Pro and Deco BE63. |
| 2.4 GHz | About 15 Mbps behind its rivals at close range without added traffic. At 25 feet, 53 Mbps versus 54 Mbps for the Deco BE63. | It ranked last overall in the review’s 2.4 GHz tests. |
The pattern is more informative than the BE13000 label: this system’s clearest measured advantage was 6 GHz, not uniformly faster performance on every band. Tom’s Hardware’s conclusion was that it was “by no means a poor performer” but “just isn’t a standout across the board.” Read the full Tom’s Hardware review and its test results.
Price, pack size, and alternatives
Tom’s Hardware listed the BE13000 at $399 for three units at review time in 2026. Its comparison table listed the Deco BE63 and MSI Roamii BE Pro at $349 for two units each. Those are historical review-time figures, not current price guarantees; check current pricing, availability, and pack size before buying. The three-unit BE13000’s value case depends partly on needing the extra node and its coverage.

The Deco BE63 is a useful alternative to consider if wired connectivity matters more than the BE13000’s stronger 6 GHz result. The BE63 has four 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports, while each BE13000 unit has three ports at mixed speeds. Compare the specific model and pack you are considering rather than assuming similarly named Deco systems have identical hardware. The related BE67/BE68/BE14000 listing is distinct: RTINGS describes that version as having a 10 Gbps port and characterizes the BE13000 as a wholesale-exclusive variant with a 5 Gbps port. Its expectation of similar performance is an inference, not a direct BE13000 test. RTINGS’ related-model information should not be mistaken for measurements of this exact unit.

Each Deco unit has three auto-sensing WAN/LAN Ethernet ports: one 5 Gbps, one 2.5 Gbps, and one 1 Gbps, plus USB 3.0. Only one Ethernet port can act as WAN at a time. A multi-gig internet connection also requires compatible service and equipment; having a 5 Gbps port does not itself provide a faster internet plan. If you have several wired devices, count the ports and check the speed each device needs. An Ethernet switch can add ports, but is an optional solution whose speed should match the devices and network layout.

TP-Link lists maximum power consumption of 28.92 W, excluding the adapter, and dimensions of 4.23 × 4.23 × 6.93 inches per unit. Its product page says Deco devices can work together in a mesh network, but compatibility does not make different models’ port configurations or specifications interchangeable. Setup, management, and security costs
The review describes setup through the Deco app for iOS or Android; the reviewer completed setup in under five minutes. Management is app-focused rather than through a traditional desktop-browser configuration page. A TP-Link account is required for remote management. The app’s management view includes router and satellite status, device counts, and wireless backhaul information.

Who should buy the Deco 7 Pro BE13000?
- Consider it if you want a three-node Wi-Fi 7 mesh, value the review’s strong 6 GHz results, and can get the system at a price that suits your coverage needs without relying on paid security features.
- Compare alternatives closely if you need multiple fast wired connections. The BE13000’s single 1 Gbps port may be a limitation, while the BE63 offers four 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports.
- Look elsewhere or compare test results if you expect the BE13000 to lead on every band. Tom’s Hardware found weaker relative results on 5 GHz at close range and on 2.4 GHz.
- Budget for subscriptions only if needed. Basic controls are available without Security+, while advanced security features may add a recurring charge.
Overall, the BE13000’s case is strongest when three-node coverage and 6 GHz performance matter more than top results across all bands or a larger set of multi-gig Ethernet ports. Its review-time price made that trade-off attractive to Tom’s Hardware, but current pricing and subscription terms should be checked before purchase.
