Total War: WARHAMMER, Creative Assembly’s 2016 fantasy strategy game, was reported 75% off on Steam in October 2026. The deal’s price depends on your regional storefront, and the headline’s 78% review figure is a dated snapshot—not a live, universal rating.
What game is on sale?
Total War: WARHAMMER is the first game in Creative Assembly’s Total War series set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles universe. Steam lists its release date as May 24, 2016, and describes a mix of turn-based campaign management and real-time battles. You manage territory and armies, then command those forces in tactical fights. The base game features five races: Bretonnia, the Empire, the Dwarfs, the Vampire Counts, and the Greenskins. Steam’s product page describes distinct characters, units, campaign mechanics, and play styles for the factions.

What does the 75% Steam discount mean?
The discount was visible on Steam’s New Zealand storefront when checked on October 7, 2026: NZ$24.99, reduced from NZ$99.99. Notebookcheck reported a separate US offer of $14.99 from $59.99, also 75% off, with an end date of October 8, 2026. That US price and expiry were reported by Notebookcheck on October 6, rather than independently confirmed on the Steam page accessed for this article. Notebookcheck’s report is therefore a dated account, not a guarantee of the price or sale end time in every region. Check the Steam listing in your own currency before buying; discounts and prices can change.

The 78% figure in the headline came from Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 report, which attributed it to 53,065 Steam reviews. Steam’s listing, accessed October 7, showed 82% positive from 18,181 English reviews and 91% positive from 34 recent reviews. These are different review groups and snapshots, so they should not be treated as competing measurements of the same cohort. Steam also notes that it excludes certain periods of off-topic review activity from its review scores.
#1 Best Overall
- Includes an unpublished short story written by Andy Hall and titled "The Prince of Altdorf"
- New playable faction "Bretonnia", famous throughout the Old World for its cavalry
What is included, and what may cost extra?
The sale described above is for the base game; Steam lists paid DLC and bundles separately. Do not assume that the discounted base-game purchase includes every add-on. Notebookcheck noted complaints from readers about DLC pricing, so review each listing’s included content and regional price before adding it to your cart.
Steam lists single-player, online and LAN player-versus-player, online and LAN co-op, achievements, trading cards, and Workshop support. Its listing also identifies third-party Denuvo anti-tamper DRM. The Windows requirements state 35 GB of storage; check Steam’s current requirements for your operating system before purchasing.

Who is this deal a good fit for?
The game is most relevant if you want a campaign built around managing a fantasy faction and leading its armies in real-time battles. The five base-game races provide different faction identities and play styles, while optional DLC and bundles offer separate purchases rather than content guaranteed by the base game.
Steam also says that owning the first or second Total War: WARHAMMER game grants access to Immortal Empires when launching Total War: WARHAMMER III. That is a cross-title feature: buying this game does not make it Total War: WARHAMMER III or mean the third game is included.
