SEGA says Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition will launch for PC on October 13, 2026 (BST). The package brings together the original game, its DLC and two standalone campaigns, while adding announced updates for visuals, controls, display support, languages, factions, modding and accessibility. As of October 3, the edition was still upcoming, so its feature and performance claims have not been independently tested.
What is included in the Complete Edition?
SEGA describes the package as three standalone campaigns covering more than 700 years of Japanese history:
- SHOGUN 2: the Sengoku Jidai campaign, in which clans compete to unify Japan.
- Rise of the Samurai: a campaign set during the Genpei War.
- Fall of the Samurai: a campaign set during the Boshin War.
The Complete Edition also includes the game’s associated DLC. According to SEGA, Steam buyers receive the original SHOGUN 2 and its DLC as well, except for the Blood Pack, which is excluded because of age ratings. The Steam store listing remains live while the game and DLC become included in the Complete Edition.
What new features and upgrades has SEGA announced?
SEGA’s September 16, 2026 announcement lists the following changes. These are publisher-announced features, not independently verified results:

The announcement does not establish how these changes perform across different PCs or how they compare in practice with the 2011 release. Independent compatibility and performance testing was not available before launch.
What do existing Steam owners get?
SEGA says existing owners of SHOGUN 2 on Steam will receive the original game’s DLC at no additional cost and qualify for a limited-time 75% loyalty discount on the Complete Edition. The official FAQ says the discount starts at launch. Because this is a time-limited offer, check the Steam account and store page for eligibility and current availability.

When does it launch, and where?
SEGA gives October 13, 2026 (BST) as the English announcement’s launch date and names Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store and GOG in its FAQ. A Japanese SEGA announcement gives October 14 local date, consistent with the timezone difference. When checked shortly before October 3, Steam marked the Complete Edition as not yet available.
