To connect a Toshiba laptop to a TV wirelessly, put the TV in its wireless display or screen-mirroring mode, then press Windows key + K on the laptop and choose the TV. This uses Miracast, so it works only if both devices support Miracast and the TV’s receiving feature is enabled. A Toshiba brand name alone does not guarantee compatibility.
Check whether your laptop and TV support wireless projection
Windows uses Miracast for this kind of direct wireless display connection. Microsoft advises checking that the PC supports Miracast, Wi-Fi is on, and the TV supports Miracast with its wireless display feature enabled. Find the TV’s receiving mode
On the TV, look in the source, network, or screen-sharing menus for a label such as Wireless Display, Screen Mirroring, or Wireless Projection. Labels and menu locations vary by model. A Toshiba TV manual for a particular model also uses the name Smartview and instructs users to set the TV to a wireless network connection before screen sharing; check your own model’s manual rather than assuming every Toshiba TV has the same menu. Toshiba’s support page confirms Wireless Display on supported sets, not on every model: Toshiba TV support and the model-specific Toshiba TV manual.

Check the laptop
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. Microsoft’s Windows guidance describes Windows key + K as the shortcut for checking for and selecting available wireless displays. If you are unsure whether your Toshiba laptop supports Miracast, consult its model documentation; the available Toshiba laptop manual covers only the named Z30-C, Z30t-C, Z40-C, and Z40t-C models, not every Toshiba laptop: Toshiba Z-series laptop manual.

Connect the Toshiba laptop to the TV
- Turn on the TV’s Wireless Display, Screen Mirroring, or equivalent receiving mode.
- On the laptop, press Windows key + K.
- Choose the TV from the list of available devices.
- Follow any connection prompt shown on the laptop or TV.
If the TV does not appear, do not assume the laptop is faulty: either device may lack Miracast support, or the TV may not be in receiving mode.
Choose whether to duplicate or extend the screen
After connecting, press Windows key + P to choose how Windows uses the TV. Microsoft lists these display options in its projection instructions.

- Duplicate: show the same image on the laptop and TV. Use this for presentations, photos, or video you want others to see.
- Extend: use the TV as additional desktop space, so you can move windows between screens.
Fix a TV that does not appear in Windows key + K
- Confirm compatibility: verify that the laptop supports Miracast and that the TV supports it too.
- Enable Wi-Fi and TV receiving mode: check that laptop Wi-Fi is on and the TV is actively set to wireless display or screen mirroring.
- Update software: install current wireless/display drivers for the laptop and available firmware updates for the TV.
- Restart both devices: then turn the TV’s receiving mode back on and try Windows key + K again.
- Remove and reconnect the display: if the devices paired before but the connection is now failing, remove the saved wireless display in Windows and add it again.
These checks follow Microsoft’s wireless display troubleshooting guidance. If the TV’s menus still do not match, consult the manual for its exact model.

If the TV does not support Miracast
A Miracast adapter can add wireless receiving to a TV that lacks built-in Miracast, provided the TV has an available HDMI input and the adapter has a suitable power source. For Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter, connect it to the TV’s HDMI port and USB power, switch the TV to that HDMI input, then connect from Windows with Windows key + K. Follow Microsoft’s adapter setup instructions. Check the adapter’s compatibility and the available ports and power options before buying; an adapter is unnecessary if the TV already supports Miracast.

Use HDMI as a wired fallback
If wireless projection is unsupported or unreliable, HDMI is a straightforward alternative. Check which video output the laptop has and which input is available on the TV before choosing a cable or any required adapter. Toshiba identifies HDMI as a connection option for high-definition image quality: Toshiba TV support.
