Which early deal fits your needs?
For demanding work: the 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro
The reported $500 reduction is the largest in these reports, but it is for a specific high-end configuration: 24GB of memory and 2TB of storage. It may make sense if you need that Pro-tier machine and capacity; the headline saving alone does not show whether it is the right value for lighter everyday use.

For everyday use: compare the M5 MacBook Air configurations
The reported Air offers cover 13- and 15-inch displays, and configurations with either 16GB or 24GB of memory and 512GB or 1TB of storage. Macworld recommends the M5 Air for most people. Choose based on screen preference, memory and storage needs, then compare the actual price of the configuration you want.
For a Pro laptop at a lower reported price: the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro
Macworld reported $1,839 for the 14-inch M5 model with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage, $163 below its stated $1,999 MSRP. It is a different model and configuration from the M5 Pro deal; the two should not be treated as interchangeable just because both are 14-inch MacBook Pros.

How to judge these prices before buying
- Match the exact configuration. Chip, screen size, memory and storage all affect what you are comparing. A discount on one version does not apply to another.
- Check the current reference price. Macworld notes Apple raised prices in June 2026. Compare a reported sale price with the current list price and, where credible price history exists, prior prices; the cited reports do not establish a record low for these configurations.
- Verify the live listing. Deal reports are snapshots. Check the final price, seller, condition and configuration immediately before purchase.
- Buy for the workload, not the percentage. Macworld says the Air suits most people and that the Pro is worth considering at the right price. Decide which tier and capacity suit your work before using the size of the discount to break a tie.
