Short answer: Tom the Postgirl is officially listed for Nintendo Switch, with handheld, tabletop, TV, and touch-screen support. Nintendo has not published a button map, frame-rate target, resolution, loading-time result, or handheld-versus-TV performance test. You can therefore know how the game is sold and what modes it supports, but not yet promise how it feels to control or how consistently it runs.
The game is a single-player, hand-drawn adventure about a village postgirl who delivers packages while snooping through residents’ lives. The most reliable expectations today come from Nintendo’s platform listing and the separate Steam description; Switch-specific controls and performance still need a Switch build or a clearly documented test.

What Nintendo has confirmed for the Switch version
| Item | Confirmed detail | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Release format | Digital edition on Nintendo Switch, according to Nintendo Canada. | There is no confirmed cartridge release in the available listing. |
| Release date | October 29, 2026, as listed by Nintendo Canada. | The date was still upcoming when the listing was checked on October 13, 2026; verify the store page near launch because release information can change. |
| Play modes | TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. | You can use a docked display, a tabletop setup, or the built-in Switch screen. |
| Players | Single-system play for one player. | This is a solo game on one console, not a local multiplayer title. |
| Input | Touch-screen support. | The touchscreen is supported, but Nintendo does not explain which actions use touch or whether every menu and interaction is touch-enabled. |
| Estimated file size | 639 MB, Nintendo’s 2026 store estimate. | Treat this as a pre-release estimate, not a measured post-update download size. |
| Switch 2 | Nintendo marks compatibility as “Supported” and says game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. | That confirms playability, not a Switch 2 enhancement. |
| Languages | Japanese, British English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Latin American Spanish, Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, American English, and Polish. | Check the local eShop listing if you need a particular regional language option. |
| Rating descriptors | Nintendo Canada lists Mild Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. | Content descriptors and ratings can differ by territory, so use your own country’s store listing for the final classification. |
The listing identifies the Switch publisher as ARTE Experience. The separate Steam page credits Oopsie Daisies as developer and ARTE France as both developer-side partner and publisher for that PC listing, so those credits should not be treated as interchangeable platform metadata.
What kind of game is Tom the Postgirl?
A delivery route with deliberate snooping
You play Tom, a new village postgirl. Delivering packages is the stated job, but the adventure’s hook is what happens between stops: Tom can inspect homes, open packages, spy on villagers, and damage gardens. The result is less a conventional courier simulator than an exploration game built around discovering private details and deciding how far to intrude.

Black-and-white presentation and replay value
The official Steam description presents hand-drawn black-and-white visuals and encourages repeat playthroughs to uncover details that are easy to miss. That description supports an observational, curiosity-driven structure, but it does not establish how many endings, routes, saves, or completion hours the Switch edition contains. Those specifics should not be inferred from the visual style alone.
Developer and publisher context
Steam names Oopsie Daisies and ARTE France in its development and publishing information. Nintendo Canada’s Switch listing names ARTE Experience as publisher. Use the platform-specific credit when discussing the release rather than assuming every store uses the same company label.
Controls: what is known and what is still missing
Touch input is confirmed, button mapping is not
Nintendo confirms touchscreen support, which means the Switch version is designed to accept at least some touch input. The product page does not publish a control diagram or a button-by-button mapping. There is no official listing there for movement, interaction, inventory, pause, menus, camera control, or any shortcut assigned to a particular Joy-Con or Pro Controller button.

It also does not prove that every controller action has a touch equivalent. Until a Switch-specific manual, in-game control screen, or hands-on test is available, any detailed mapping would be speculation.
What the Steam control information can—and cannot—tell you
The Steam listing advertises full controller support and accessibility options such as adjustable text size, subtitle choices, color alternatives, camera-comfort controls, contrast controls, custom volume controls, and an option to play without quick-time events. Those are useful signals about the PC version’s design priorities, but they are not evidence that the Switch edition exposes the same settings or uses the same layout.
Rank #2
- 6.2” LCD screen
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
Do not assume that a Steam controller prompt will match Nintendo’s button labels, that a PC accessibility toggle exists in the Switch menus, or that a feature omitted from the Nintendo listing is definitely absent. Look for a Switch-specific settings menu or manual after release.
Performance expectations on Switch
No published frame rate, resolution, or loading result
Nintendo’s product page does not state a frame-rate target, output resolution, loading-time result, or performance difference between handheld and TV play. There is therefore no supported basis for calling the game a 60-frame-per-second release, a locked-30 title, or a particularly smooth handheld experience.

The Windows and macOS minimum requirements shown on Steam cannot be converted into a Switch performance prediction. Nintendo hardware uses a different operating environment, memory configuration, rendering path, and certification process. A PC requirement can describe what is needed to launch the computer build; it cannot establish the Switch build’s frame pacing or image quality.
What to check once a Switch build is available
If you are deciding whether to buy at launch, look for reporting that identifies the platform and describes its method. The useful questions are:
- Does the game maintain a consistent frame rate during village exploration, indoor scenes, and any effects-heavy moments?
- Is the frame-rate target different in handheld and docked modes?
- What resolution does the game output in each mode, and does the image remain readable on the Switch’s smaller screen?
- How long are initial loads, area transitions, and returns to the title screen?
- Do menus, text, and cursor movement feel better with buttons, a touchscreen, or both?
- Are there stutters, texture pop-in, audio interruptions, crashes, or suspend-and-resume problems?
- Does a later patch change any of those results?
A credible performance claim should identify the console model, play mode, game version, and test scene. A general statement that the game “runs well” is not enough to compare handheld and TV use.

What Switch 2 compatibility actually means
Supported does not mean enhanced
Nintendo marks the game as supported on Switch 2 and states that game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch. In practical terms, that is a compatibility assurance: the software is expected to run and behave as the Switch version does.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The wording does not promise higher resolution, a higher frame rate, shorter loading, improved textures, HDR, or any other Switch 2 enhancement. Unless Nintendo or the developer publishes an enhancement note, treat Switch 2 as a compatibility option rather than an upgraded edition.
How to make a fair comparison
If you own both systems, compare the same game version in the same scene and mode. Record handheld or docked status, display output, frame-rate behavior, loading, and input response separately. Otherwise, a difference caused by a patch, television, controller, or scene can be mistaken for a hardware upgrade.
Handheld, tabletop, and TV use
Choosing a play mode
All three standard Switch modes are listed. TV mode is the obvious choice for a larger shared display; tabletop mode suits a detached screen with a separate controller; handheld mode keeps the game on the console. The listing does not state that one mode has a different frame rate, resolution, or feature set, so do not assume a technical advantage from the mode label alone.
Switch Lite considerations
Nintendo warns that software compatibility and play experience may differ on Nintendo Switch Lite and that additional accessories may be required, sold separately. The warning is general rather than a list of specific limitations. Because the game is single-player, a Lite owner should confirm that the intended control method works comfortably with the built-in controls and check whether any desired tabletop-style setup requires separate equipment.

- This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
- 6.2” LCD screen.
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
Storage and download planning
The 639 MB figure is Nintendo’s estimated game size. It is small enough to plan around easily on a typical Switch storage setup, but it is not a guarantee of the final download after patches. Leave additional free space for updates and temporary installation data rather than treating the estimate as the exact amount the console will need.
Languages, accessibility, and content suitability
Language coverage
Nintendo lists a broad set of language options, including multiple English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese variants as well as Japanese, German, Italian, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Polish. Availability can be tied to the region of the store account or console settings, so confirm the exact listing for your market before purchase.
Accessibility evidence is platform-specific
The Steam page’s accessibility details are useful for understanding what the PC release offers, but the Nintendo page does not confirm that the same adjustable text, subtitle, color, contrast, camera, volume, or quick-time-event options appear on Switch. If one of those settings is important, wait for a Switch menu breakdown or verify it directly after installation.
Content descriptors
The Canadian Nintendo listing includes descriptors for mild violence, partial nudity, sexual themes, and use of drugs and alcohol. Ratings are assigned by territory and can change in wording, so parents and players should consult the local rating panel rather than relying on the Canadian classification.
Release timing and buying considerations
Digital-first information
Nintendo lists the game as a digital edition. No physical cartridge was established in the available platform information, so buyers should not assume that a boxed version exists or that a cartridge is scheduled.
Best Value
- One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand
- Two players can each take one
- Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately)
- Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
When to verify the store page
The listed launch date is October 29, 2026. Because that date was still in the future when Nintendo’s listing was checked, revisit the local eShop page near launch for the final date, price, download size, language details, rating, and any update notes.
What the Steam demo does not establish
A Steam Community developer news post mentions a demo and Steam Next Fest participation. That confirms activity around the PC version, not a Switch demo. Do not expect a Nintendo trial version unless Nintendo or the developer announces one separately.
A practical launch-day checklist
- Confirm the store entry. Check that the page is the Nintendo Switch edition, not a different platform listing, and verify the current release status.
- Read the controls screen before starting. Record movement, interaction, pause, menu, camera, and any touch gestures. This is the authoritative answer to the button-mapping question.
- Test both input methods. Try the built-in buttons and touchscreen in a safe area before committing to a long session. Note whether touch is optional or required for any action.
- Measure your own modes. Play the same short route in handheld and TV or tabletop mode. Watch for stutter, blur, delayed input, and text that is difficult to read.
- Check accessibility settings. Look specifically for text size, subtitles, contrast, color, camera comfort, volume, and quick-time-event options instead of assuming the Steam features carried over.
- Check suspend and resume. Put the console to sleep, return to the game, and verify that the session resumes correctly before relying on it during travel.
- Update before judging performance. Record the installed version. A launch patch can alter loading, stability, or controls, making an early report outdated.
Who should wait for more information?
Players who mainly want a hand-drawn solo mystery and are comfortable with an exploratory game can already judge the premise and presentation from the official descriptions. Players who require a specific control layout, a particular accessibility option, a guaranteed frame rate, or a documented handheld resolution should wait for Switch-specific details before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe strongest current conclusion is deliberately limited: the game is a confirmed digital Switch release with broad mode and language support, but the two questions in the title that depend on hands-on evidence—exact controls and performance—remain open.
