Yes—you can play V Rising entirely solo in 2026, either online or in Offline LAN mode. For a first run, create a private game, leave enemy and boss strength at their defaults, and tune only the systems that become disproportionately slow for one vampire: resource yield, crafting speed, castle capacity, servant capacity, durability loss, and travel rules. Update 1.1, Invaders of Oakveil, is the current content baseline, but older saves remain tied to their matching legacy branches.
Playing with friends? Godlike.Host runs hosted V Rising servers from 10 data-center locations, with free DDoS protection.
The most important solo habit is to treat your castle and servants as part of your progression engine. Queue a servant hunt before logging out, plan every major fight around blood quality, healing, and daylight, and change advanced settings gradually because private saves can be edited after creation.

Choose the right solo world type
V Rising offers three practical ways to play alone. The choice determines whether you need an internet connection, whether time passes while you are away, and how much control you have over the world.
| Mode | Internet requirement | Does the world run while you are away? | Setting control | Cost pattern |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Offline LAN private game | No internet connection is required. | No. The world pauses when you leave. | Private-game and advanced settings are available. | No recurring hosting fee. |
| Online private local save | Internet is needed to start or access the online session. | No. It is available when you are playing. | Private-game and advanced settings are available. | No recurring hosting fee. |
| Private dedicated server | Required for the server connection. | Yes. The server remains available continuously. | Broad configuration control; other players can join later. | Usually a recurring hosting cost, depending on provider and platform. |
Use Offline LAN for a self-contained first run
Stunlock Studios describes LAN mode as playable solo or with friends on the same local network. It is the best fit when you want no internet dependency and do not want raids, crafting queues, or the environment advancing while you are logged out. The trade-off is that servant hunts and other timed activity do not provide an unattended, persistent-world advantage after you close the game; schedule those tasks during a session or use the persistent behavior described below.
#1 Best Overall
- Awaken as a Vampire. Hunt for blood in nearby settlements to regain your strength and evade the scorching sun to survive.
- Raise your castle and thrive in an ever-changing, open world full of mystery. Gain allies online and conquer the land of the living.
Use a private local save for easy experimentation
A private save is the simplest choice if you may later invite friends but still want complete control over the rules. It also lets you revise advanced settings after the world exists, so you do not have to discard a promising character merely because gathering or castle construction feels too slow.
Use a private dedicated server for an always-on world
A dedicated host is worthwhile when you want the castle and production systems available at all times, or when friends may join later. The official PlayStation guidance lists private hosting providers such as PocketHost and GPortal; verify current platform support, region, pricing, and availability before paying. Do not confuse a private host with an official public server: Stunlock warns that when an official server resets, all data—including vampires and castles—is deleted.

There is no developer-issued “best solo preset.” The sensible approach is to preserve combat difficulty while reducing the chores that normally scale across a clan. Start with default enemy and boss strength, then adjust one category at a time. Keep a backup before major experiments so a bad setting change cannot compromise your main save.
| System | Suggested solo adjustment | Why it helps without trivialising bosses |
|---|---|---|
| Enemy and boss strength | Leave at default initially. | Boss patterns, damage windows, and progression remain meaningful. |
| Resource yield | Increase modestly if repeated harvesting is blocking progression. | Shortens travel and gathering loops rather than reducing combat skill. |
| Crafting and production speed | Increase modestly, especially for long station queues. | Reduces idle waiting while preserving material decisions. |
| Castle and servant capacity | Add enough capacity for production, storage, prisons, and a useful servant roster. | A solo player must cover roles that several clan members would normally divide. |
| Durability loss | Reduce the penalty if repair trips repeatedly interrupt exploration. | Prevents equipment maintenance from becoming a second travel tax. |
| Teleport restrictions | Choose the rule that matches your available play time. | Less backtracking is valuable when one player must carry every resource personally. |
Change advanced settings on an existing save
- From the main menu, choose Load Game.
- Select the private save you want to modify.
- Choose Edit Settings.
- Change one group of settings, such as gathering or crafting, rather than changing everything at once.
- Load the world and play long enough to judge the effect before making another adjustment.
This path is particularly useful when your first settings were too strict. It avoids restarting solely because the world takes too long to support a single character.

Plan progression around V Blood and daylight
Follow the V Blood road map instead of wandering until a boss happens to be nearby. Gear upgrades usually provide a larger practical improvement than repeatedly attempting a fight while under-equipped. Before tracking a target, scout the arena, identify nearby cover, and decide how you will leave if the battle runs past sunrise.
Prepare a solo boss attempt
- Carry at least one reliable healing option and enough consumables for a failed opening exchange.
- Keep more than one blood-quality option available. A high-quality combat blood type may be preferable for a boss, while a different type can improve travel or gathering before the encounter.
- Check the in-game time and route. A victory that ends in direct sunlight can still become a corpse run.
- Clear nearby threats where practical, but do not spend so long preparing that your blood and buffs expire before the boss.
- After a failed attempt, change one variable—gear, blood, spell, weapon, or arena timing—rather than abandoning the entire build.
Use Update 1.1’s broader build system
Invaders of Oakveil adds the Oakveil Woodlands, three weapon types—Claws, Twinblades, and Throwing Daggers—seven spells, reworked blood systems, passive bonuses, weapon coatings, a Fusion Forge, and expanded alchemy and castle infrastructure. These additions make testing combinations more valuable than locking yourself into one loadout at the start.

Evaluate a solo build on four practical axes:
- Damage window: How much damage can you deliver while a boss is vulnerable?
- Mobility: Can you escape telegraphed attacks and reposition without consuming every defensive cooldown?
- Crowd control: Can you interrupt, slow, or separate adds when an encounter becomes crowded?
- Sustain: Can you heal or mitigate mistakes without a clan partner rescuing the attempt?
A setup with slightly less peak damage but dependable movement and healing is often the safer first-clear choice. That is a solo-play strategy, not an official meta ranking: the best combination depends on your timing, the boss, and the settings of your world.
Make servants your offline multiplier
Servants are one of the largest differences between a smooth solo run and a grind-heavy one. Unlock servant infrastructure as soon as your progression allows, recruit candidates with useful blood quality, equip them appropriately, and send them on hunts before you leave the world.

Queue hunts before logging out
The servant reference for the game states that a hunt in a solo game continues against the system clock after you exit. That makes long hunts ideal for overnight or workday windows. A practical routine is:
- Return to the castle before ending a session.
- Check each servant’s equipment, mission suitability, and available health or recovery needs.
- Choose the longest hunt that fits the servant’s strength and the territory risk.
- Start the hunt before quitting, then collect the result when you next load the save.
Under Update 1.1, servant expertise equals half the captured blood-quality percentage. Blood quality therefore affects both the servant’s combat value and the value of sending that servant on hunts; high-quality candidates are not merely decorative additions to the castle.
Design the castle for throughput
Reserve space for production stations, storage, prisons, servant rooms, and travel convenience before committing large areas to decoration. Update 1.1’s treasury and storage improvements reduce repeated chest-to-station trips, which matters more when you are the only character moving every ingredient. Put frequently used stations and storage within a short route, and keep a clear path to the coffin, servant area, and exits.
Decide whether to start a new Oakveil save
If your goal is the current 2026 experience, treat Update 1.1 as the baseline and start a current save. Oakveil adds a new region, enemies and bosses, three weapons, seven spells, expanded blood and alchemy systems, passive bonuses, weapon coatings, the Fusion Forge, a treasury, a stable, and additional castle and servant features.

Older Early Access, Gloomrot, and 1.0 saves are version-separated. Stunlock’s May 20, 2025 migration guidance says those saves are accessed through matching legacy branches and do not receive the new 1.1 content. You therefore have two deliberate choices:

- Play Oakveil: Start a current 1.1 save so the new region, systems, and progression are available as intended.
Do not assume that loading an old character into the current branch will merge the two versions. Decide whether preserving your existing castle matters more than accessing the current content before you choose a branch.

Autosaves take too long
The same support guidance documents setting:
CompressSaveFiles false
This can speed autosaves, but it produces larger save files. Make sure your storage and backup routine can accommodate the increase, especially for a long-running private world.
A server or character appears to be missing
Confirm that you launched the correct branch and save type. A legacy save may only appear when its matching branch is selected, while an official server reset can permanently delete its vampires and castles. For an important local save, keep a separate backup before changing branches or experimenting with settings.
A repeatable solo session routine
- Start at the castle and review servant results, production queues, and storage.
- Choose one objective: a V Blood target, a resource run, a new station, or a territory scout.
- Set blood, weapon, spells, coatings, healing, and travel route for that objective.
- Leave enough daylight margin to return safely or identify shelter before sunrise.
- Bank valuable materials before attempting an unfamiliar boss or region.
- Queue servant hunts and long production jobs before logging out.
- Back up the save before a major settings, branch, or configuration change.
This routine keeps solo play from becoming a sequence of emergency trips. Combat remains the part you must master, while the settings, castle, and servants remove repetitive delays that are amplified when no clan partner can gather, craft, transport, or rescue you.
