The promotion was reported at £57.96 including VAT after a discount code (£48.30 before VAT), despite the commonly quoted “£54” headline. It is not a conventional monthly phone contract and it does not include international roaming, calls or texts.
What the £54/£58 offer actually is
The product is a preloaded mobile-data SIM intended for routers, portable hotspots and other compatible data devices. You pay once rather than receiving a standard monthly bill. TechRadar reported the discounted price on 14 September 2026 as £57.96 including VAT, or £48.30 before VAT, after applying a promotional code. The exact amount shown by a retailer can change, so check the current checkout price and eligibility before buying.

The SIM is aimed at businesses and sole traders. It can be supplied as a physical SIM or an eSIM, subject to the device and retailer supporting the chosen format.
Allowance, renewal and expiry
- Monthly allowance: 1,000GB (1TB).
- Renewal date: the allowance renews on the 8th of each month.
- Reported service expiry: July 2028.
- Payment: one upfront charge, not a normal recurring monthly tariff.
The 1,000GB figure is a monthly allowance, not 1,000GB that can be consumed for the entire life of the SIM. Unused data should not be assumed to roll over; the offer information describes a fresh allowance on the monthly renewal date.

How Vodafone access works
“Vodafone roaming” in this deal means access to a second UK mobile network, not the ability to use Vodafone abroad. The SIM uses Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology to access Three and Vodafone UK automatically where each network is available. Your device selects an available network; local signal, congestion, device bands and site availability still determine the experience.
Using two UK networks can help a router or hotspot in places where one network has weak coverage. It does not guarantee a faster connection, nationwide coverage or a particular 4G or 5G speed. A 5G connection also requires a compatible device, a suitable local 5G signal and the necessary network configuration.

What you can—and cannot—do with the SIM
Suitable uses
- Fixed or backup internet through a compatible 4G/5G router.
- Portable Wi-Fi from a mobile hotspot.
- High-volume streaming, large downloads, cloud transfers and video calls.
- Temporary connectivity for a small office, event or remote work location.
Excluded features
- No voice-call allowance.
- No SMS allowance.
- No number porting.
- No international roaming on this promotion.
It is therefore a data connection, not a replacement for a normal phone SIM. Putting it in a handset may provide mobile data if the phone supports the SIM format and network bands, but you should not expect calling, texting or number-transfer features.

- Check whether the router accepts the physical SIM size supplied, or supports eSIM if you choose that version.
- Confirm that the router is unlocked and supports the UK 4G/5G bands used by Three and Vodafone.
- Insert the SIM or scan the eSIM activation code, then follow the router’s mobile-broadband setup instructions.
- Set the device to automatic network selection so it can use the available Three or Vodafone UK network.
- Test the connection at the location where the router will operate; coverage can differ substantially between nearby buildings.
Some routers require an access-point-name (APN) profile or a firmware update before mobile data works. The retailer’s activation instructions should take precedence if they specify a particular APN or setup process.

How it compares with Three’s roaming options
This pre-paid SIM should not be confused with Three Business voice-and-data plans that include or add Go Roam. Those products are designed for ordinary phone use and overseas travel, while this promotion is a high-capacity UK data product.

On standard Three Business voice/data plans, roaming can cost £2 for 24 hours in Europe, £5 worldwide or £7 in the “Extra” zone unless the plan expressly includes roaming. Three’s Business Price Guide also lists one-off passes: a three-day Europe pass at £4.17 and a seven-day Europe pass at £8.33. Those passes remain on the account until used unless the plan changes. These prices and destination rules belong to the relevant roaming products, not to the 1,000GB SIM.

Does it work abroad?
No. The Vodafone element is domestic UK network access. The offer information specifically excludes international roaming, so do not buy it for travel outside the UK. If overseas connectivity is essential, choose a business plan or roaming pass that names your destination, data allowance, fair-use limit and daily charge.
Questions to check before ordering
- Does the retailer currently accept your business or sole-trader eligibility?
- Is the £57.96 VAT-inclusive promotional price still available, and is a code required?
- Does your router support the physical SIM or eSIM format and the relevant UK bands?
- Will the device let you use automatic network selection?
- Can you live without calls, SMS, number porting and overseas use?
- Will the reported July 2028 expiry meet your deployment period?
For a UK router or hotspot that needs a very large allowance and benefits from a second domestic network, the deal is unusually generous: 1,000GB monthly for one upfront payment. Its limits are equally clear—business eligibility, no phone services, no international roaming and a finite reported expiry—so it should be treated as a temporary mobile-broadband product rather than a general-purpose mobile tariff.
