Delhi Police said three men were arrested after officers raided a godown in Budh Vihar, northwest Delhi, and seized about 683 kg of prohibited firecrackers valued by police at ₹35 lakh. The men were allegedly loading the stock into a car and onto a scooter when police intervened. The reported source of the consignment was a factory in Rohtak, Haryana, but investigators had not publicly established the factory owner’s responsibility.
What happened in Budh Vihar?
Delhi Police said officers raided a godown in Budh Vihar and arrested three men while they were loading firecrackers. Hindustan Times quoted Rohini Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Jaiswal as saying: “Three people were apprehended while they were loading prohibited firecrackers from a godown into a Hyundai Santro car and on a scooter. A case was registered and the three were arrested.”
Police reportedly seized about 683 kg of firecrackers, valued at ₹35 lakh. The weight and valuation are figures attributed to police in the reports; neither report provides independent measurement or valuation records. Both Hindustan Times and The Times of India reported that a car and a two-wheeler were seized.
Who was arrested?
Hindustan Times identified the arrested men as Chand, 49, Ram Kumar, 47, and Ravi, 35, and reported that all were residents of Rohini. The report described Chand as a contractor supplying construction materials and the other two as his employees. These are reported details about the arrests, not findings of guilt.

Where did the firecrackers come from?
Police reportedly traced the consignment to a factory in Rohtak, Haryana. Hindustan Times said the factory owner was sent a notice seeking an explanation and asked to join the investigation. That step indicates an investigative lead; the reports do not establish that the owner was charged or found responsible for the seized stock.
What case was registered?
The reports say an FIR was registered at Budh Vihar police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosives Act. They differ in how they describe the BNS subsections, and neither reproduces the FIR, so the precise section notation cannot be stated confidently from the available reporting.
