Shacknews’ episode 70 of This Week in Switch 2, published October 9, 2026, covers a preview of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, an “Arjun in SF6” segment, and discussion of reports about Xbox. The listing confirms those topics, but does not provide enough detail to establish what happened in the Arjun segment or which Xbox reports the hosts discussed. Read the episode listing.
What the episode covers
The episode description says Donovan discusses attending a Nintendo Switch Sports Resort preview event. Its title also names “Arjun in SF6” and “Xbox not for sale.” The listing characterizes the Xbox conversation as a response to reports by games journalists and says the group offers advice to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. It does not identify the reports or spell out the advice, so the title alone should not be treated as evidence that an Xbox sale was proposed.

What Nintendo has announced about Sports Resort
Nintendo says Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and is scheduled to launch October 22, 2026. Its announcement lists 12 sports and describes Joy-Con 2 motion controls, with Skateboarding using Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Nintendo’s Philippines announcement provides the release and gameplay details.

The list mixes familiar sports with activities such as Thumb Wrestling, Power Cruising, and Prop Plane. Nintendo also notes that multiplayer may require additional games, systems, or accessories depending on the mode; it does not establish that every player needs an extra controller.
Island exploration and Island Crown
A later Nintendo announcement says players can freely explore Wuhu Island, look for hidden hibiscus flowers, collect Spocco Photos, and play Island Crown offline. The announcement is regional, so store availability and preorder information should be checked for the player’s market. Nintendo Singapore’s announcement describes these features and its regional preorder listing.

Release and regional bundle details
The announced October 22, 2026 release date applies to the game’s launch. Nintendo Australia separately announced a Switch 2 and Sports Resort bundle for that date. That Australia-specific bundle includes a full game download and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership. Those terms should not be assumed to apply in other countries. Nintendo Australia’s bundle announcement gives the local offer details.
For someone deciding how to play, the key distinction is ownership: the standalone game requires a Nintendo Switch 2, while the Australian bundle combines the console and a game download with a time-limited online membership. The cited Nintendo announcements do not establish comparable current prices across regions.

What the episode listing does not establish
The Shacknews summary is enough to identify the episode’s broad subjects, not to reconstruct its conversations. It does not say what Arjun did in Street Fighter 6, identify the Xbox reports under discussion, or quote the hosts’ advice to Asha Sharma. For those specifics, the episode audio or a transcript would be needed. An Amazon Music listing also describes the episode broadly as a Resort preview, but does not add those missing details: Amazon Music episode listing.
