T3’s hands-on review finds it enjoyable enough to become the reviewer’s regular PS5 controller, but its $229.99 price, asymmetric sticks and replacement for the full-size touchpad make it a specialist purchase rather than an automatic upgrade.
T3’s review, published October 15, 2026, describes the Revolution 5 Unlimited as an upgraded Revolution 5 Pro and one of the most feature-rich alternatives in a market constrained by Sony’s haptics ecosystem.

What makes the Revolution 5 Unlimited different
The controller uses a mostly matte-plastic shell with rubberized grip areas and noticeably clickier buttons than a standard DualSense. Its controls are designed for adjustment rather than a fixed setup: you get switchable trigger stops, two side buttons, additional shoulder buttons, TMR analogue sticks, an onboard screen, and a phone app for profiles and presets.
TMR sticks are a hardware choice aimed at precise, configurable analogue control. The review does not provide an independently measured drift rate, latency figure or durability result, so those performance claims should not be inferred from the component type alone.
#1 Best Overall
- Ultra Customizable Controls
- Mappable Back Buttons
- DualSense Wireless Controller Features Built In
- Replaceable Stick Modules and Caps
Physical customisation in the box
- A hard-shell carrying case.
- Interchangeable concave and convex stick heads.
- Weights that slide into concealed compartments, allowing you to alter the controller’s mass.
- A charging dock that also stores the wireless dongle, keeping the receiver from taking up a separate storage spot and reducing USB-port clutter.
The onboard display and mobile software let you switch or tune profiles without treating every game as a one-size-fits-all setup. Trigger stops can shorten the pull for shooters, while alternative stick heads and added weight let you tailor reach, resistance and balance to your preference.
The compromises you need to accept
Asymmetric sticks
The analogue sticks use an asymmetric arrangement rather than the traditional PlayStation symmetry. That will feel familiar to players used to Xbox-style controllers, but it can be a deal-breaker if your muscle memory depends on the standard DualSense layout.
Rank #2
- Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions through haptic feedback
- Experience varying levels of force and tension at your fingertips with adaptive triggers
- Chat online through the built-in microphone and connect a headset directly through the 3.5mm jack
- Switch voice capture on and off using the dedicated mute button
- Play on more devices using the USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth to connect easily to Windows PC and Mac computers, Android and iOS mobile phones as well as your PlayStation 5
A smaller button replaces the touchpad
The large DualSense touchpad is replaced by a smaller customisable button. T3’s reviewer found it fiddly when opening a map, an important distinction for games that use the touchpad frequently. The change creates room for the controller’s own interface, but it is less immediately convenient than the full-size PlayStation touch surface.

PS5 integration versus flexibility
The DualSense Edge integrates more tightly with PS5 software. The Nacon instead puts more emphasis on hardware controls, stored profiles and physical accessories. That makes it more adaptable across play styles, while the official pad remains the more seamless choice for the console’s native interface and feature set.

- Aim and move with precision by swapping in fresh stick modules* so you’re always playing with equipment that’s in great shape. Plus, three types of changeable stick caps help you stay comfortable in-game without sacrificing grip or stability.
- Mappable back buttons The DualSense Edge wireless controller’s two swappable sets of back buttons can be configured to any other button input, so you’ve always got game-changing actions and essential controls at your fingertips.
- Adjustable trigger lengths Manually set the travel distance of your left and right triggers for an optimal experience with whatever you’re playing. Fast-paced FPS? Set a shorter travel distance to shoot faster on the field. Competitive racer? Set a longer travel distance for precise throttle control on the track.
- Remappable buttons Remap or even deactivate specific button inputs, so you can create a completely personalized control setup that’s ideal for the game at hand.
- Quick-swap control profiles Once you’ve found your ideal control settings, you can save them to unique profiles and swap between them on-the-fly, so your favourite configurations are always ready when you are.
Price and value
| Region | Listed price | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| United States | $229.99 | T3/Future listed price, 2026 |
| United Kingdom | £179.99 | T3/Future listed price, 2026 |
| Eurozone | €199.99 | T3/Future listed price, 2026 |
That places the Revolution 5 Unlimited in the same premium bracket as the DualSense Edge. T3 characterises the cost as roughly the price of three or four standard DualSense controllers, so the value depends on whether you will use its configurable controls, profiles, accessories and adjustable weight regularly. It is difficult to justify solely as a replacement for a working standard controller.
How it compares with the DualSense Edge
| Category | Nacon Revolution 5 Unlimited | DualSense Edge |
|---|---|---|
| Stick layout | Asymmetric | Traditional PlayStation symmetry |
| Customisation | Remappable controls, profiles, trigger stops, interchangeable stick heads and adjustable weight | Strong PS5-focused customisation, with tighter system integration |
| Interface | Small customisable button in place of a full-size touchpad | Full-size DualSense touchpad |
| Included extras | Hard case, weights, extra stick heads, charging dock and wireless-dongle storage | Not established by the cited review |
| Listed regional price | $229.99 / £179.99 / €199.99 (2026) | Not stated in the cited review |
Choose the Nacon when physical flexibility and an asymmetric layout are priorities. Choose the Edge when the familiar symmetric layout, full touchpad and closer PS5 software integration matter more. Neither choice is universally better; the layout and interface differences affect every session.

Who should buy it?
- Buy it if: you want programmable controls, trigger stops, multiple profiles, selectable stick heads, adjustable weight and a dock in one premium package.
- Consider it carefully if: you regularly use touchpad gestures or maps, because the smaller replacement button may be awkward.
- Skip it if: you prefer symmetric PlayStation sticks or only need a basic second controller.
The review is positive despite those reservations. Max Freeman-Mills wrote: “I’ve been hugely enjoying my time with the gamepad, though, and expect to keep using it as my standard controller on PS5 for quite some time.” That is a personal hands-on verdict, not a laboratory measurement; the review does not establish battery life, wireless latency, long-term durability or stick-drift rates.
Bottom line
The Nacon Revolution 5 Unlimited feels like a return to the PS4 era’s broader third-party choice because it offers a genuinely different physical design instead of simply imitating the standard pad. Its extensive configuration and useful accessories are convincing, but the high price and asymmetric layout mean it is best for players who know exactly why they want those differences.
