Smartlinx’s catalog lists it at $149.99, although another product page lists $259.99, so check the live price before buying.
What the SL-020 does
The dock is intended for a “one cable for my monitor, keyboard and mouse” workflow. Connect the dock to a compatible laptop once, then leave your monitor, keyboard, mouse, external storage, network cable, headphones and memory cards attached to the dock. Unplugging the laptop cable disconnects the desk without removing each accessory.

Can it run two or more 4K monitors?
Smartlinx documents support for one 8K display or multiple 4K displays. Its stated Windows configuration reaches 8K at 60Hz plus 4K at 60Hz, while its macOS specification calls out dual 4K at 60Hz but specifically excludes Apple M1 Macs.

For expanded monitor support, the dock uses DisplayLink. That means the computer needs DisplayLink software in addition to the physical display cables. DisplayLink-based output can be useful when the laptop’s native graphics connection cannot drive every attached screen, but it adds a software dependency and should be installed before relying on a multi-monitor desk.
Apple compatibility
A MacBook with a full-featured Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C port can use the dock’s basic peripherals, networking, storage and charging features. The documented dual-4K mode does not apply to M1 Macs, so owners of those machines should verify the exact monitor arrangement before purchasing. Smartlinx also warns that seventh-generation Intel systems may have limited functionality.

Will it charge a laptop?
The SL-020 can deliver up to 90W to the host laptop and up to 20W for fast charging other devices. That is enough for many productivity notebooks, but Smartlinx cautions that laptops requiring more than 90W may charge unstably. Check your laptop’s supplied power requirement rather than assuming the dock replaces its original charger in every workload.

- Check the laptop port. Confirm that it supports full-featured Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C operation. A charge-only USB-C port will not provide the dock’s full feature set.
- Install DisplayLink software if needed. Use it when you need the dock’s expanded multi-monitor capability; ordinary USB, Ethernet, audio and card-reader functions do not by themselves establish that extra display support.
- Connect the dock’s power supply. Power the dock before attaching high-draw accessories or displays.
- Attach displays and peripherals. Connect monitors, USB devices, Ethernet, headphones, SD cards and TF cards to the dock, using cables rated for the resolution and refresh rate you want.
- Connect the host cable. Plug the dock into the laptop’s compatible Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C port. The operating system should enumerate the attached devices and displays.
- Verify charging and displays. Check the laptop’s battery indicator, confirm each monitor’s resolution and refresh rate, and test network and storage-card access before putting the setup into daily use.
What the $150 price means
The matching deal description says the dock was $40 off on Amazon for about $150. Smartlinx’s catalog lists $149.99, while a separate Smartlinx product page lists $259.99. Those figures are not a guaranteed current price, and availability can change by retailer and date. Treat $150 as a deal target to verify at checkout, not a permanent list price.

Consider the 40Gbps, display and charging figures vendor-rated limits rather than guaranteed results for every laptop and accessory combination.
