What is Everything?
Everything is an objective-light, procedurally generated exploration game built around changing your point of view. You can inhabit an animal moving through a landscape, then shift into a tree, rock, planet or galaxy. The game moves in both directions: from microscopic habitats and tiny organisms to planetary systems and the wider universe.

There is no conventional campaign, mission list or victory condition. Instead, the experience asks what happens when the player can become almost any part of the world and observe how those parts relate. You can communicate with other beings, dance and create additional members of a species, or relinquish control and watch events unfold like an endless documentary.
How the gameplay works
Change scale instead of following objectives
Perspective switching is the central action. A session may begin with an animal in a meadow, descend into a microscopic environment, or expand outward until you are controlling a planet or galaxy. This is exploration through scale rather than a sequence of increasingly difficult levels.

Interact, reproduce and observe
Creatures and other entities can communicate and dance, and the game lets you create more members of a species. If you prefer passive discovery, you can surrender direct control and let the generated world continue on its own. That documentary-like option is part of the design, not an idle mode added around a traditional campaign.
Expect meditation, not combat
Everything is aimed at curiosity and contemplation. It does not use combat, conventional progression or a checklist of objectives to provide momentum. The appeal is the freedom to explore connections among living things, objects and cosmic structures.

Why Alan Watts recordings are in the game
Original recordings of British philosopher Alan Watts play a major role in Everything’s identity. His discussions of life, consciousness and existence accompany the shifting viewpoints and give the game a philosophical, meditative tone. The recordings are not a separate lecture mode; they are woven into an experience designed around observing systems rather than defeating opponents.
Recommended Free Tools
That makes the game a natural fit for players who enjoy philosophical audio and open-ended contemplation. It also explains why its pace can feel very different from a conventional sandbox: the intended reward is a new way of looking at the world, not an unlock tree or a final boss.

Is $1.49 a good price?
At the reported sale price, the cost is one-tenth of the regular listing price. Notebookcheck described the promotion as a new all-time low tracked by SteamDB; the previous maximum discount was 87%.
| Item | Reported value | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Sale price | $1.49 | Reported October 14, 2026; storefront pricing can vary by region and change after the promotion |
| Regular price | $14.99 | Price cited in the same report |
| Discount | 90% off | Reported Steam promotion |
| Sale end | October 23, 2026 | End date stated in the report; verify the live Steam listing |
| Previous maximum discount | 87% | SteamDB figure cited when identifying the new low |
For someone curious about an unusual, low-pressure experiment, $1.49 removes most of the financial risk. The trade-off is that the game offers no guaranteed checklist of content to complete. If you need structured missions, skill progression or regular combat, the discount does not change that mismatch.

Reception and Steam Deck support
Reception is broadly positive, though not unanimous about the repetition that can come with repeatedly changing perspective.
| Source | Reported result | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | 83% positive from more than 3,800 user reviews | Strong player approval, with a substantial review sample |
| Digital Chumps | 8/10 | Praises the unusual concept and philosophical depth; notes that perspective switching can become repetitive |
| Metacritic | 78 Metascore; 7.1 User Score | Positive professional and user reception, with some variation between critics and players |
| Steam Deck | Verified | Valve’s compatibility designation for the handheld |
The Steam Deck Verified rating makes the game a practical choice for handheld play, especially because its exploration does not depend on rapid competitive inputs. Verified status is a compatibility signal, not a promise that every player will enjoy the deliberately slow, observational design.

Who should buy it?
- Buy it if you want to experiment with scale, from microorganisms to galaxies, and prefer discovery to objectives.
- Buy it if Alan Watts’ reflections on consciousness and existence sound like a useful companion to play.
- Buy it if you enjoy watching systems evolve as much as controlling them.
- Skip it if you need a clear story, combat, missions or measurable progression.
- Be cautious if repetitive perspective changes quickly lose your interest; that is the main criticism noted in the available reviews.
What to know before purchasing
- Open the current Steam listing and confirm the price and regional currency.
- Check that the promotion still shows an October 23, 2026 end date; sale timing and prices are volatile.
- Read the control and system details on the store page for your specific computer or handheld configuration.
- Choose it for open-ended observation rather than expecting a conventional objective or campaign.
The Bottom Line
Everything is an unusually broad, philosophical exploration sandbox: at the reported October 14, 2026 price of $1.49, it is an inexpensive way to explore life, objects, planets and galaxies from the inside—provided you are comfortable without missions or a traditional ending.
