The ASUS Vivobook 15 configuration to look for is the Ryzen 7 model with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, reported at £402.99 (reduced from £476). That specification is unusually capable for a budget Windows laptop: it has enough memory for heavy browser use and schoolwork, while the 512GB drive avoids the severe space constraints found on many cheaper Vivobooks.
Why this particular Vivobook deal stands out
“ASUS Vivobook” is a family name, not one fixed specification. Two laptops carrying the Vivobook label can differ substantially in processor, memory, storage, display and price. The reported £402.99 model is attractive because it combines the parts that most affect everyday responsiveness:

- 15.6-inch display
- AMD Ryzen 7 processor
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB storage
SBS Consulting & Distribution reported that price against a £476 reference price in 2026. Prices, stock and exact model numbers can change, so treat the figure as a snapshot and verify the live retailer listing before buying.
What you can realistically do with it
The available evidence supports this Vivobook for web browsing, documents, email, online learning, streaming, video calls and general home or office tasks. Sixteen gigabytes of RAM gives Windows and multiple browser tabs substantially more breathing room than 4GB or 8GB systems, and a 512GB SSD is practical for applications, documents, photos and offline media.

There are no benchmark results in the available coverage for demanding games, 3D work, professional video production or other sustained heavy workloads. Do not assume that a Ryzen 7 badge alone makes this a gaming or creator workstation; performance also depends on the exact chip generation, graphics hardware, cooling and display configuration.
How it compares with cheaper and newer configurations
Past deal coverage shows why checking the full specification matters more than comparing the Vivobook name or headline discount.

| Reported price | Model and processor | Memory | Storage | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| £402.99 (from £476) | Vivobook 15, AMD Ryzen 7 | 16GB | 512GB | Strongest directly matching budget configuration |
| £219.99 | Vivobook 14, Intel Celeron N4020 | 4GB | 64GB | Low-cost basic option with very limited headroom |
| $299.99 (from $599.99) | Vivobook 14, Intel Core i5 | 12GB | 512GB SSD | US deal example with a better-balanced specification |
| £499 | Vivobook 14/S14, Intel Core Ultra 5 200-series | 16GB | 512GB | Newer processor tier and Full HD 16:10 display |

| $419.99 (from $749) | Vivobook 16, AMD Ryzen 7 | 12GB | 512GB SSD | Larger-screen US example with less memory |
These reports span different years, retailers and countries, so they are not a controlled performance or price test. They are useful as a warning: a £199 or $299 Vivobook may have a much weaker processor or less storage than the £402.99 model.
Why 512GB matters on a Windows laptop
Entry-level Vivobooks have appeared with 64GB or 128GB of storage. After Windows updates, recovery data and essential applications consume space, a 64GB machine can become difficult to manage. You may need to remove files continually or rely on external storage.

A 512GB SSD leaves room for ordinary software, school files, photos and downloaded media without making storage management a daily chore. It is still sensible to keep backups, but the larger drive is a meaningful usability upgrade rather than a cosmetic specification.
Check these details before ordering
- Confirm the exact SKU. Match the processor model, RAM and SSD capacity in the retailer’s specification, not just the “Vivobook 15” name.
- Check the screen. Verify the diagonal size, resolution, aspect ratio and whether the listing specifies Full HD. The reported Ryzen 7 deal identifies a 15.6-inch display, while the £499 model is described with a Full HD 16:10 panel.
- Check the operating system. The X515JA deal included Windows 11; do not assume every regional or retailer configuration has the same software.
- Confirm region, keyboard and warranty. UK and US listings use different currencies, keyboard layouts, retailers and warranty terms.
- Recheck the total price and availability. Reference prices and discounts can be promotional, and an exact configuration may sell out while another SKU remains available.
Who should buy it
Good fit
- Students needing a Windows laptop for research, writing, video calls and streaming
- Home users who keep many browser tabs and common office applications open
- Shoppers who want 512GB of local storage without moving immediately to a premium laptop
Consider another class of laptop
- Gamers seeking verified frame rates or a dedicated graphics processor
- Editors, designers and engineers running sustained professional workloads
- Buyers who require a particular display quality, port selection, battery result or lightweight chassis that this listing does not document
Verdict
At the reported £402.99 price, the ASUS Vivobook 15 with Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD is a compelling cheap-laptop deal for everyday computing. Its value comes from the balanced configuration, not simply the Vivobook branding or the size of the discount. Before paying, verify that the live listing still contains those exact four specifications and is sold with the warranty and keyboard layout you need.
