That combination makes it a credible EV-camping option—but only when the loaded trailer, tongue weight and your car’s tow limits all check out.

The 840-pound figure is dry weight, before passengers’ equipment, food, water, bedding, batteries and other cargo are added.
SylvanSport also cautions that towing affects vehicle range and tells owners to consult the specific vehicle owner’s manual. That qualification matters more than the marketing label: an EV’s approved tow rating, hitch rating and tongue-weight limit determine whether this trailer is legal and safe for that car.

The GO uses a king-and-a-half sleeping area that the manufacturer says accommodates four people and a dog. How much range will an EV lose?
There is no controlled, independent test establishing the GO’s exact range penalty. A precise percentage would be misleading because speed, wind, hills, temperature, tire pressure, payload and driving style all change the result. A heavier load and higher speed generally demand more energy, while a low-profile trailer can reduce—but not eliminate—the aerodynamic penalty.

- Start with the trailer’s current dry weight, then add every item loaded for the trip, including water and food.
- Check the fully loaded trailer weight against the EV’s tow rating and the hitch’s rating; use the lower limit.
- Check tongue weight separately. A trailer can be under its total tow limit while still exceeding the car or hitch’s vertical-load limit.
- Allow for charging stops that are farther apart, slower in cold weather or unavailable on remote routes.
- Make a short local test run with the intended load before a long trip, recording energy consumption at the speeds you expect to drive.
Independent EV-towing evidence shows that lightweight electric-car camping is practical, but it is not a substitute for a GO-specific test. In 2026, The Driven reported a Tesla Model 3 towing a 730 kg loaded Cub Drifter pop-top camper for more than 5,000 km. That loaded mass included food, bedding and water. The same report described the camper as having a 3 kWh onboard battery and a 600 W solar array. The journey demonstrates feasibility, not a universal range figure for every EV or trailer.
GO compared with other lightweight and electric campers
These products occupy different weight and technology categories. Published figures are not interchangeable: some are dry or starting weights, while real trips use loaded trailers.

What to check before towing the GO
- Read the car’s manual. Confirm that your exact model, battery version, market and model year are approved for trailer towing. Some EVs have no tow approval even when a hitch can be physically fitted.
- Confirm the hitch. Use a hitch rated for the trailer’s maximum permitted mass and vertical load, installed according to the vehicle maker’s instructions.
- Get the GO’s current numbers. Ask the seller for maximum authorised mass, payload, tongue weight, axle limits, packed height and width, and the trailer’s braking requirements in your jurisdiction.
- Weigh the ready-to-travel combination. A public weighbridge can verify trailer and tongue loads after water, luggage and camping equipment are aboard.
- Plan charging around the trailer. Check whether charging sites provide enough space to remain attached, and account for the extra time required to manoeuvre or unhitch.
- Test handling and braking. Keep heavy items low and close to the axle, secure the pop-up hardware, and practise emergency braking and reversing in a safe area.
Price, availability and the value question

That is a starting figure, not a guaranteed delivered or fully equipped price, and it should be confirmed for your region before purchase. The GO is most compelling when a buyer needs four-person sleeping capacity but has an EV with a modest tow rating. Its low dry weight leaves more headroom than a heavier family caravan, although every kilogram added for a real holiday reduces that margin. The SylvanSport GO is a promising lightweight family pop-up, not a guarantee of unchanged EV range. Its 840-pound dry weight and four-person sleeping area address the two biggest barriers for small-car campers. The purchase makes sense only after matching the loaded trailer and tongue weight to the exact vehicle, checking local towing rules, and validating route charging with a realistic test load.
