Announced on September 30, 2026, the expanded authorisation lets customers choose CapEx, RaaS, or a hybrid arrangement while keeping THG Fulfil as their distribution and integration partner. The announcement describes new commercial choices, not a disclosed price, contract term, or guaranteed cost saving.
What changed in THG Fulfil’s AutoStore agreement?
THG Fulfil announced global distribution authorisation for the entire AutoStore product range under a CapEx model, adding asset ownership alongside its existing RaaS offer. THG says customers may select CapEx, RaaS, or a combination of the two. The RaaS offer covers a selected range that includes R5 Pro and R5 Pro+ robots, CarouselPort, ConveyorPort, and VersaPort. The announcement does not itemise which equipment or commercial terms would apply to a particular hybrid arrangement. THG Fulfil announcement, September 30, 2026
In a CapEx arrangement, the customer makes the capital investment and owns the asset; a RaaS structure is intended to provide automation as a service rather than requiring the same upfront asset purchase. THG COO Tom Killeen framed the decision as a balance: “Automation should never force brands to choose between control and cash flow.” That is THG’s rationale for offering different structures, not evidence of a specific financial outcome for customers.
How do CapEx, RaaS, and hybrid options differ?
| Option | Upfront capital and ownership | Equipment coverage in THG’s announcement | What is not disclosed |
|---|---|---|---|
| CapEx | Customer-funded capital purchase; asset ownership | Global authorisation for the entire AutoStore product range | Prices, payment schedule, service terms, and contract length |
| RaaS | Service model; designed to avoid the same upfront capital commitment as buying the asset | Selected range, including R5 Pro and R5 Pro+ robots, CarouselPort, ConveyorPort, and VersaPort | Fees, included services, term, and total cost |
| Hybrid | Combines the two models; allocation of ownership and service is not specified in the announcement | Not stated for a specific hybrid configuration | How equipment, investment, and service would be divided |
These are choices to discuss with THG Fulfil, rather than standard packages with published terms. The announcement gives no itemised prices, payback period, ROI, or contract duration, so buyers cannot use it alone to compare the total cost of ownership.

What should a retailer assess before choosing a model?
- Capital strategy: Decide whether owning warehouse equipment on the balance sheet fits the organisation’s investment plans, or whether limiting the initial capital commitment is more important.
- Equipment scope: Confirm the exact robots, ports, and other system components required, particularly because THG describes CapEx as covering the entire AutoStore range but RaaS as covering a selected range.
- Operational responsibility: Establish what installation, integration, maintenance, support, and system operation are included in the proposed terms. The announcement does not spell these out.
- Facility integration: Review how the AutoStore system will connect with the site’s warehouse control and other operational systems, and who is accountable for each integration.
- Hybrid design: If considering a mix, ask which assets would be purchased, which would be provided as a service, and how each portion would be priced and supported.
What capabilities and performance does THG report?
THG Fulfil says it operates 796 AutoStore robots across its own network and has connected AutoStore with its proprietary warehouse control system. The company also reports more than 11,000 bins delivered to picking stations per hour and a 78% reduction in average pick wait time. These are vendor-reported figures; the announcement does not describe independent testing or provide enough operating context to treat them as a forecast for another facility. THG Fulfil announcement
THG Ingenuity’s AutoStore integration page gives more specific figures: 11,790 bins delivered to picking stations per hour and average pick wait time of 4.52 seconds, down from 21 seconds. These marketing-page metrics are also THG claims and should not be conflated with independently audited results or assumed to apply to a prospective customer’s site.
