The Witch’s Bakery is a story-driven adventure about Lunne, a witch who opens a boulangerie in Paris with her creature companion, Orio. Its magical pastries let her enter customers’ troubled hearts, turning each order into an act of emotional healing. A Next Fest demo described by PC Gamer on February 24, 2026 presents a warm, Ghibli-influenced game that is far more interested in empathy and exploration than in running a stressful bakery.
What The Witch’s Bakery is about
Lunne arrives in Paris and starts a new bakery with Orio. She does not simply sell ordinary croissants: her baking has a supernatural purpose. Customers who are carrying emotional burdens can be helped through food made with Lunne’s magic, allowing her to enter the problems troubling them and guide them toward resolution.

The result is a bakery adventure structured around individual people and their stories. Orders provide the entry point, but the real objective is understanding why a customer is suffering and finding a compassionate way to help.

A customer’s problem becomes an adventure
The demo’s clearest example is Judith Tessier, who owns a decoration shop. A spectral presence is tormenting her, although ordinary people cannot see it. After Judith eats one of Lunne’s croissants, the player enters a maze-like minigame connected to her distress. When the sequence is completed, Judith breaks down in tears and the specter departs.

This scene shows how the game links its mechanics to its narrative. The pastry is not merely a healing item, and the maze is not an unrelated puzzle: both represent Lunne helping a person confront something invisible and painful.
Light bakery work, not a high-pressure simulator
Baking in the demo is deliberately simple. The player kneads dough, collects the requested item and completes a small number of preparation tasks. Orio handles much of the routine bakery labor, leaving Lunne free to explore, talk with customers and investigate the emotional problems behind their orders.

What you do in the demo
| Activity | How it appears in the demo |

| Customer conversations | Meet residents and learn about the personal troubles hidden behind their requests. |
| Exploration | Move through Paris and investigate the people, places and supernatural details connected to each story. |

| Emotional resolution | Use magical food to enter a customer’s troubled heart and help resolve the burden. |
That mix makes the bakery a narrative hub rather than a production-management challenge. Players looking for ingredient spreadsheets, complex recipes or relentless time limits should not assume those systems are the focus based on this demo.

PC Gamer characterized the demo as feeling like eating a fresh croissant: warm, comforting and immediately inviting. The visual direction is strongly influenced by Studio Ghibli, with a constant soft glow, unusual creature companions and a story that treats small emotional moments as seriously as its fantasy elements.

Orio is central to that tone. The companion is both a practical partner in the bakery and part of the game’s collection of strange, adorable creatures. The contrast between magical beings, everyday Parisian shops and customers dealing with private pain gives the setting a storybook quality without making the conflicts feel trivial.
Is The Witch’s Bakery a cozy game?
It fits the cozy-game tradition in atmosphere, pacing and subject matter, but its appeal is more specific than simply being relaxing. The demo emphasizes gentle social encounters, low-pressure baking and helping vulnerable characters. Its emotional stories can still be poignant: Judith’s reaction is an example of release and grief, not just a cute reward animation.

The headline used for this article is a reaction-style description; the available evidence identifies The Witch’s Bakery as the strongest match, rather than confirming that the exact wording is an official publisher title.
Who should watch this game
- Players who prefer character-focused adventures in which helping people is the main progression.
- Fans of warm, hand-crafted fantasy visuals and creature companions.
- Anyone who enjoys light puzzles and exploration alongside simple cooking or crafting interactions.
- Players seeking a bakery setting without the pressure of a demanding restaurant-management simulation.
The demo’s central idea is unusually clear: baking is a way to reach people. If the completed game expands that premise with more customers, deeper exploration and similarly thoughtful puzzles, Lunne’s Paris bakery could become one of the more distinctive cozy adventures to follow.
