To adjust Roach’s updated controls in The Witcher 3 Remastered, open Settings → Controls and change the “Horse control input sensitivity” slider. CD PROJEKT RED does not specify a default, numeric range, or universally recommended value, so choose a setting that feels comfortable on your platform.
What changed in Roach’s controls?
CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered feature announcement lists two horse-related changes: a new “Horse control input sensitivity” slider and updated collision avoidance while riding Roach. The announcement does not quantify a handling improvement or say that the slider changes Roach’s animations.
Where to find horse control input sensitivity
- Open the game’s Settings menu.
- Select Controls.
- Find Horse control input sensitivity and adjust the slider.
- Try the setting while riding, then return to the slider and refine it to your preference.
The published feature information does not give the slider’s numeric range or default value. There is therefore no confirmed “best” number to recommend.
Do the controls differ by platform?
The Remastered release is identified for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement does not provide a complete button-by-button horse control map for each platform, nor does it establish that the slider feels identical across them. Use the in-game controls display on your platform to check the available inputs.

The official PlayStation 4 manual is a legacy reference: it assigns horse steering to the left stick and describes calling the horse with a double-press. Those instructions should not be treated as a current, universal Remastered control map.
Remastered availability and existing owners
CD PROJEKT RED lists PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as Remastered platforms. Its release announcement says eligible existing owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S receive the upgrade for free. Eligibility depends on the platform and ownership context; check the publisher’s release announcement for the applicable details before purchasing.

The announcement also mentions new animations for Geralt and Roach. That is general traversal context, not evidence that changing sensitivity alters animation or guarantees a particular handling result.

CD PROJEKT RED’s PC support page lists supported peripherals, including partial Xbox One controller support and PlayStation 4 controllers. Because that page is older, it may not reflect every current device or configuration. It does not establish that a specific controller is required for the horse sensitivity setting.
