The Witcher 3 Remastered NPC Glitch Leaves Some Characters as Eyes and Teeth

Some players report that NPCs in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered appear as floating eyes and teeth, with the rest of the character model missing. GamesRadar describes player posts and screenshots of the visual glitch, which resembles notorious launch-era imagery from Assassin’s Creed Unity. That comparison is about appearance only: no shared technical cause has been established.

What the Witcher 3 Remastered glitch looks like

In the reported examples, a character’s eyes and teeth render while the rest of the face or body does not. GamesRadar’s October 6, 2026 report describes player posts showing multiple characters and screenshots of the effect. The report does not establish how often it happens or whether it is limited to a particular platform.

The “ghost of Assassin’s Creed Unity” description refers to a visual resemblance. GamesRadar recalls Unity launch-era characters whose faces failed to load, leaving floating eyes and hair. There is no evidence in the reporting that the games share an underlying defect or technical cause.

Is there a confirmed fix?

No dependable fix has been confirmed for this specific appearance glitch. One player told GamesRadar that a character’s body returned after they left the area and came back. That is a single anecdote, not a tested or guaranteed workaround; you can try revisiting the location, but it may not help.

CD PROJEKT RED’s October 1, 2026 patch 5.00b and hotfix 5.00c notes describe fixes and adjustments to other issues, but do not mention NPCs rendering as eyes and teeth. The notes reviewed therefore do not confirm that either update addresses this symptom. Patch 5.00b covered, among other changes, Xbox Play Anywhere PC DLSS availability and lighting. Hotfix 5.00c covered saving and loading, audio, Velen visuals, HairWorks-related performance and visual issues, telemetry, GOG achievements, and the Classic version launcher.

What players can do

  • Leave and revisit the location: one player reported that the character returned after doing so, but the result is not verified as a repeatable fix.
  • Check for updates: official notes document work on other launch issues. Check CD PROJEKT RED’s news and patch notes for later updates; the October 1 notes do not name this glitch.
  • Contact technical support: if it keeps happening, report the platform, game version, location, and what you saw through CD PROJEKT RED Technical Support. The October 1 patch 5.00b notes said the team was investigating reports through technical support.
  • Consider reverting only if appropriate: CD PROJEKT RED’s FAQ on previous game versions says reversion may be possible depending on platform. It does not identify reverting as a fix for this visual issue.

What is known about the Remastered edition

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launched on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED described it as a free upgrade for eligible existing owners on several platforms and listed purchase availability through Battle.net and the Microsoft Store in its launch announcement.

The company’s support FAQ says existing saves are compatible with Remastered, while skills reset because the skill system was overhauled. These general edition details do not offer a remedy for the missing-model glitch.

What remains unclear

The reports covered by GamesRadar do not identify the affected platforms, the glitch’s incidence rate, steps that reliably reproduce it, or its cause. They also do not establish whether it persists after later updates. The October 1, 2026 official patch notes reviewed here do not mention the symptom; that absence does not show that no later change exists or that CD PROJEKT RED has never received a report.
