Count Martin Monnier hands Geralt a basic Skellige Gwent deck. You have to strengthen it with more Skellige cards, qualify, and then play four matches at the Pheasantry. Winning all four pays the Victor’s Cup, 1,000 crowns and 250 XP. One thing to do first: play the Tourney Grounds innkeep before you qualify, or you will miss Draig Bon-Dhu until the tournament is over.
How to start the quest
There are two ways in, according to the Witcher Wiki walkthrough:

- Read the Toussaint notice-board posting or pamphlet about the tournament. GameBanshee names it “The Great Beauclair Gwent Tournament.” GameBanshee also says winning a Skellige card in Toussaint can trigger the quest.
- Talk directly to the tournament host at the Pheasantry.
Monnier only allows the Skellige deck. If you agree to take part, he gives you a basic deck. He also starts “Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here” if that quest isn’t already active. That quest is where you collect the additional Skellige cards. Once you hold enough, the quest updates and the tournament opens.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore you qualify: don’t miss Draig Bon-Dhu
Challenge the Tourney Grounds innkeep first. The Witcher Wiki warns that the Pheasantry becomes inaccessible once your deck qualifies. After that you can’t play her, and you can’t win Draig Bon-Dhu from her, until the tournament is finished. The wiki also recommends completing “Never Fear, Skellige’s Here” first, so you know the deck has every card it needs.
#1 Best Overall
- Mediterranean Horror: Explore the forsaken capital of an awe-inspiring archipelago. Do not let yourself be fooled by the gentle sea breeze, the Mediterranean vistas or the comforting summer sun. Since the Devil's Fevers pandemic ravaged the city, it was abandoned, and now only horrific nightmares await there.
- Survive your Nemesis: Someone is relentlessly hunting you. Suffer and agonize while you try to run away from the encounters with this strange stalker obsessed with you.
- Intense Challenges: Solve environmental riddles, physics puzzles and other similar challenges in an interconnected vertical world. Even while being chased and hunted.
- Accessibility and Photomode: Tweak more than 20 Accessibility settings to create a tailored experience for you. Use the Photomode to make perfect shots and unlock many secrets using it.
Building the Skellige deck
The wiki describes Skellige as flexible but dependent on luck. Its main features:
- Muster and Tight Bond mechanics, plus Mardroeme cards.
- Fewer medics and spies than some rival factions.
- A faction ability that returns two random cards for the third round, so plan around it.
The suggested approach is to prioritise Cerys. Her Muster ability pulls out the Shield Maidens, and their Tight Bond raises their combined strength. Decoys let you reuse an opponent’s spy or a strong card such as Birna Bran. They also give you flexibility between rounds. This is the wiki’s recommended build, not a guaranteed win, and it comes from a guide rather than from the developer.

| Count Martin Monnier | Skellige |

The dwarf protest
After the ambassador match, dwarves protest and a fistfight breaks out against three of them. Invoke Zoltan Chivay. Their leader, Yaki, then steps in and becomes your final opponent.
Hamal’s optional wager
Hamal offers a side bet involving Geralt’s silver sword. GameBanshee says winning it gives 100 XP and a leveled Blave steel sword. According to the Witcher Wiki, if you lose, Monnier buys the silver sword back, so the sword is recoverable.
