The upcoming Street Fighter movie is reported to include a cameo by Justin Wong—and a “37” tattoo that nods to Evo Moment 37, his famous match against Daigo Umehara. GamesRadar reports that Wong plays a prisoner commentating on a fight. That is a pre-release report, not confirmation of what appears in the finished film.

With only a single pixel of vitality left, Daigo parried all 15 hits of Chun-Li’s Super Art, then won the match, according to Guinness World Records. The parry sequence is the moment that made the match famous: instead of blocking and being overwhelmed, Daigo timed successive forward inputs to deflect the incoming hits and stay in the fight.

GamesRadar reports that Wong makes a cameo as a prisoner commentating on a fight, with a “37” tattoo as the reference. The report says Capcom contacted Wong about the bit part. It relays details from Wong’s YouTube account and IGN coverage; the reviewed sources do not independently establish that the scene is in the completed film.

Capcom’s September 5, 2025 announcement says the film is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026. That is the announced schedule, not confirmation of a later release-date update.
Why was Daigo’s parry so remarkable?
The sequence was extraordinary not simply because it involved a string of precise inputs. Daigo was at the edge of defeat, and Chun-Li’s Super Art could have ended the round. Parrying each hit kept him alive and created an opening to counterattack.

Capcom’s 2012 explainer quotes commentator Seth Killian describing how Daigo tracked Wong before the super: “If you watch the moments preceding Justin doing the super, Daigo is moving at pace with him across the screen as Justin dances back and forth,” Killian said. “Daigo is mirroring his actions. That’s not an accident. Daigo has made his play.” The anticipation matters: the parries were the payoff to reading Wong’s movement, not just a reflexive response to the animation.
Where can you watch the original match?
Guinness World Records identifies the match video as Daigo Umehara versus Justin Wong and recorded 9,095,836 views as of March 3, 2020. That is a dated historical count, not a current view total. The game behind the match is Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike; the cited sources do not establish which current edition or platform is best for playing it.
