In Chapter 2, take the key from the corpse beside the church blockage switch, retrieve the Trident from the upstairs church room, and carry it to the graveyard obelisk north of the church. Set the obelisk from top to bottom to Yig: Serpent Form → Tsog-Nar: Crooked Cross → Gyrh: Spearhead → Cthylla: Splayed Womb. Move away and let lightning charge all three Trident tips, then return it to its original room. In the altered church, take the dagger from the figure nearest the altar and insert it into the altar slot to descend. This walkthrough covers the Chapter 2 church mystery and includes spoilers.
Where to find the Trident and obelisk
The sequence takes place in Chapter 2, “The Wake-Up Call.” Find the key on the corpse beside the church blockage switch, then use it to open the upstairs church room containing the Trident. The obelisk stands in the graveyard north of the church.

The puzzle’s clues are in two notes: “Call Upon Believers,” on the church altar, names four gods; “First Vision,” in the Star-locked graveyard crypt, gives their symbols. The phrase “from the depth to the heights” indicates the order runs vertically. What is the Church Obelisk order?
Set the four sections from top to bottom in this order:

Match each god with its named symbol and keep the sequence top-to-bottom. The obelisk’s location north of the church in the graveyard is also noted in The Sinking City 2 Guide’s puzzle solutions.
How to charge and retrieve the Trident
- Set all four obelisk sections to the symbols in the order above.
- Step away from the obelisk and allow lightning to strike the Trident. Each hit lights a tip; wait until all three tips are lit.
- Watch for enemies during this stage and keep clear of the lightning area. Deal with attackers before retrieving the charged Trident.
- Pick up the Trident and return it to the upstairs church room where you found it.
What the charged Trident unlocks
Returning the charged Trident changes the church sequence. Take the dagger from the figure directly in front of the altar and insert it into the altar slot. This opens the route down to the basement and the next encounter in the Chapter 2 case.

You can investigate the two notes to follow the intended clue trail, or enter the confirmed order directly if you want to move through the puzzle faster. The guides establish the clues and solution but do not report a separate reward for discovering the order yourself.
