That makes it the most prevalent card in that table, not necessarily the world’s best-selling GPU or the best choice for a particular PC.
What the September Steam survey shows
Steam’s overall video-card table puts the RTX 5070 at 6.15% for September 2026, ahead of the other listed models. The same table shows 3.77% for August, a displayed increase of 2.38 percentage points. These are shares of Steam’s reported survey distribution, not sales figures.

Steam also publishes a separate DirectX 12 video-card table. In that listing, the RTX 5070 is at 6.35% for September. The 6.15% and 6.35% figures come from different tables, so they should not be treated as competing readings of the same measure.
Why are some reports giving a different percentage?
Hardware Busters and TweakTown, in reports published October 2, 2026, each give the RTX 5070 a September share of 5.86% and an August share of 3.56%—figures that differ from Steam’s live overall table. The reason for the mismatch is not established by those reports or Steam’s page. This article uses the official page’s displayed figures and identifies the table and month rather than combining the numbers.

For context, TweakTown also reported September figures of 4.20% for the RTX 5060, 3.87% for the RTX 5060 Ti, and 3.72% for the RTX 4060. Those secondary figures should not be read as a reconciliation of the discrepancy.

Steam’s survey indicates which graphics cards appear most often in its reported user distribution. It is not a worldwide GPU-sales leaderboard, a benchmark, or a measure of value. The survey alone cannot establish how many RTX 5070 cards were sold, how fast they perform in a particular game, or whether one is right for your build.
A large month-to-month move also needs care in interpretation. PC Gamer’s March 2026 coverage described an earlier RTX 5070 survey jump from 2.87% in January to 9.42% in February. That kind of change is a change in the survey’s reported distribution; by itself, it does not prove a matching burst of organic purchases.

Should you buy an RTX 5070?
The ranking can answer whether the RTX 5070 is prominent in Steam’s September data, but it cannot answer whether it is a good purchase for you. To compare it with alternatives such as the RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti, or RTX 4060, check current prices and independent performance results for the games and resolution you use. Also verify memory capacity, power and cooling requirements, and the dimensions of the specific card model against your case and power supply.
