The game was announced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and current PC footage comes from experimental PS4 emulation or unfinished community work. That means there is no official PC ultrawide setting, no supported PS4-to-PC save-transfer path, and no guaranteed 4K, 60 FPS, or 120 FPS mode. The original console release targets 1080p output and 30 FPS with letterboxing; unofficial emulator results vary by build, patches, hardware, and scene.
Is The Order: 1886 officially available on PC?
No. Ready At Dawn’s launch announcement described The Order: 1886 as targeted exclusively for PlayStation 4. No Sony or Ready At Dawn announcement documents a native Windows edition. As of 17 October 2026, reports showing the game running on a computer identify special or experimental shadPS4 emulator builds rather than an official port.

This distinction matters because a native PC release would normally provide a supported executable, graphics menu, input options, save location, patch policy, and minimum hardware requirements. None of those exist for an official Windows version of this game. A video labelled “PC gameplay” can therefore mean that a PS4 game is being emulated, not that a PC edition has been published.
What you can buy officially
The official product is the PS4 game, sold as a physical copy or through whatever legitimate PlayStation distribution is available in your region. Check the edition, region, disc condition, and current availability before buying. A PS4 copy is not a license for a separate Windows build, because no such supported build is documented.

What are the current PC projects?
Experimental PS4 emulation
Some shadPS4 forks can boot and render portions of The Order: 1886. One October 2026 report measured more than 200 frames per second in the opening sequence and 60–84 FPS near the city on the tester’s high-end system. Those figures describe one unofficial build, one computer, and particular scenes. They are not a developer-set PC target and should not be treated as a promise that the game will run at 60 FPS on your hardware.
Emulation performance can change substantially after an emulator update, a game patch, a shader-cache rebuild, or a change of resolution. A scene that appears smooth in a short clip may still pause while shaders compile, fail to render effects, or crash later. The same build can behave differently on two graphics cards or processors.
Native-PC community work
A separate community effort is attempting a native PC implementation. Its 17 October 2026 development update says that the introduction renders and that initial save creation works, but also says much remains before it can be called playable end to end. It is development context, not evidence of a finished port. Treat progress posts as informational, use legally owned game data, and follow each project’s own documentation and distribution rules.

Does the game support ultrawide monitors?
There is no official PC ultrawide support to enable. Because there is no documented Windows build, there is also no official 21:9 or 32:9 aspect-ratio option, FOV slider, or Sony support policy for those displays.
The original console presentation is letterboxed. Reference compatibility data lists the game as “Letterboxed,” so black bars are part of the established presentation rather than proof that a PC setting is missing. An emulator patch may crop the bars, stretch the image, alter the viewport, or leave the image unchanged. It may also introduce geometry, HUD, or post-processing artifacts. None of those behaviors is a stable, authoritative ultrawide configuration for The Order: 1886.
What to expect on a 21:9 or 32:9 display
- Unmodified emulation: expect the original letterboxed composition, potentially surrounded by additional monitor-side black space.
- Aspect-ratio patches: results depend on the exact emulator fork and patch. Cropping can remove parts of the intended frame; stretching can make characters and environments look distorted.
- HUD and cut-scenes: a wider render does not guarantee that menus, subtitles, aiming reticles, or cinematic framing will align correctly.
- Native project builds: support is unknown until the developers publish a working build and document its display modes.
If ultrawide presentation is a deciding factor, regard it as experimental and reversible: keep a clean configuration, change one patch or setting at a time, and be prepared to return to the original aspect ratio when a scene or menu breaks.
What resolution does The Order: 1886 run at?
Reference specifications list 1080p output for PS4 Pro and PS5, with letterboxing, and a 30 FPS target on both. The base PS4 is also associated with a 30 FPS target. These are console reference figures, not PC graphics-menu presets.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTechnical discussions sometimes mention a 1920×800 internal image. That number should be understood as a rendering detail reported in technical analysis, not as an official Windows resolution setting. It helps explain why the displayed picture can be letterboxed even when a console is connected to a 1080p television.

Why emulator resolution labels can be misleading
An emulator may show a window size, an internal scale, and an output resolution as separate values. For example, a 4K desktop output can contain an internally scaled image that still follows the game’s original composition. Increasing the emulator’s resolution does not create a native 4K asset set, remove letterboxing, or guarantee that interface elements and effects scale cleanly.
When comparing screenshots, check whether the caption identifies the emulator build, internal scale, output resolution, renderer, and date. Without those details, “4K” may only describe the monitor or capture file.
Can you play at 60 FPS or 120 FPS on PC?
There is no official PC frame-rate target. The console reference target is 30 FPS, while an experimental shadPS4 report recorded more than 200 FPS in the opening and 60–84 FPS around the city on one high-end setup. Those measurements demonstrate that an emulator can produce high instantaneous rates in selected areas; they do not establish a reliable 60 FPS mode for the whole game.
Why the reported numbers fluctuate
- Shader compilation: new effects can cause stutter even when the displayed FPS counter is high.
- Scene complexity: a quiet corridor and a busy city section place different demands on the emulator.
- Emulator overhead: CPU scheduling, graphics translation, and synchronization can limit performance independently of your GPU’s advertised power.
- Unfinished compatibility: visual glitches and rendering artifacts can accompany a high frame-rate counter.
Do not infer that 120 Hz output is supported simply because a counter reaches 120 or more in a menu or opening sequence. A useful report identifies the exact fork, game build, patches, hardware, resolution, and test location, and notes whether shader stutter or broken effects occurred.
Can a PS4 save be transferred to PC?
No supported transfer workflow exists. Sony’s PC-games FAQ states that PS4/PS5 and PC versions are separate products and that save data currently cannot be transferred from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version, or in the opposite direction. Since The Order: 1886 has no official PC version to receive a save, there is no Sony-supported PS4-to-Windows conversion for this game.
Emulators may store their own virtual memory-card or save files, but that is implementation-specific. A save that works in one emulator fork may not be recognized by another, and moving files between systems can overwrite progress or corrupt a profile. Back up the emulator’s entire user-data directory before changing builds, applying patches, or importing a community save.
What does not count as cross-save
- Copying a PS4 cloud save to a USB drive and placing it in a Windows folder.
- Using a PlayStation save-management tool without a documented, game-specific conversion process.
- Loading an emulator save in a different fork and assuming the formats are interchangeable.
Keep the original console save untouched. If a community project documents an import method, follow that project’s version requirements and make a separate backup first; its procedure is not a Sony service.

Which way of playing is the most practical?
| Option | Platform legitimacy | Stability | Aspect ratio | Save compatibility | Performance | Maintenance burden |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS4 release | Official PlayStation product | Finished console release | Original letterboxed presentation | Uses the console’s own save system; no supported PC transfer | 30 FPS target; 1080p reference output on PS4 Pro | Lowest; use compatible PlayStation hardware and updates |
| PS4 emulation | Unofficial; requires a legally owned game and compliant setup | Experimental; shader stutter, glitches, and artifacts are possible | Emulator- and patch-dependent; no authoritative ultrawide mode | Emulator-specific; not Sony cross-save | Variable; one report measured over 200 FPS in the opening and 60–84 FPS near the city | High; builds, caches, patches, drivers, and per-game settings may need maintenance |
| Native-PC community project | Unofficial work in progress | Not playable end to end according to the 17 October 2026 update | Not established | Not established | Not established | Very high; availability and behavior can change during development |
Choose the PS4 release when you want the predictable, complete experience. Choose emulation only if you accept compatibility work and variable results. Do not choose the native project expecting a finished replacement for the console game.

How to evaluate an emulator report before trying it
- Identify the source. Confirm that the post names the emulator fork, game version, test date, and whether the footage is emulation rather than a native port.
- Check legal ownership. Use a game copy and system software obtained through lawful means, and follow the project’s documentation for permitted dumping and file handling.
- Record your baseline. Note your CPU, GPU, driver, operating system, monitor resolution, and emulator settings before changing anything.
- Test more than the opening. The reported opening-sequence result exceeded 200 FPS, while the city measurement was 60–84 FPS. Test a demanding area, a cut-scene, menus, and a save/load cycle.
- Watch for correctness, not only speed. Look for missing shadows, broken reflections, texture flashes, audio desynchronization, input lag, crashes, and shader-compilation pauses.
- Back up saves and configuration. Copy the emulator’s user data before updating a build or applying an aspect-ratio patch.
Common problems and what they mean
Black bars remain on an ultrawide monitor
This is expected behavior from the original letterboxed presentation. It is not evidence of a missing official PC toggle. An aspect-ratio patch may change the bars, but it can also crop or stretch the image and break the HUD.
The FPS counter is high but the game stutters
Shader compilation and synchronization can produce pauses that an average FPS number hides. Allowing a cache to build may change later runs, but an emulator update can invalidate it. Compare repeated runs and keep the build identified when reporting results.
The picture contains flashing textures or missing effects
Those are compatibility artifacts, not a normal PC graphics mode. Try the project’s documented renderer or known configuration only if the project supplies one; otherwise, revert to a clean profile and report the issue with a reproducible scene.
A save disappears after changing builds
Stop launching the new build until you have restored your backup. Emulator save formats and directory layouts can differ, and a failed conversion can overwrite the only copy. There is no official Sony recovery path that turns an emulator save into a PC cross-save.
Why the game can look different from a typical PC port
Ready At Dawn’s Photo Mode update describes the game as rendered in real time and adds selectable colour grading. That context helps explain why emulator captures can be sensitive to shader state, post-processing, and timing. It does not indicate that the game has PC graphics options or that Photo Mode was released as a Windows feature.
Real-time rendering also means that a screenshot from a patched emulator can combine several changes at once: altered aspect ratio, higher internal scale, different shader compilation state, and a modified colour pipeline. Treat visual comparisons as configuration-specific rather than as proof of an official remaster.
Bottom line for PC players
The Order: 1886 is officially a PS4 game, not a documented Windows release. There is no official ultrawide setting and no supported PS4-to-PC save transfer. Console references point to a letterboxed 1080p presentation with a 30 FPS target, while experimental emulation can produce much higher but inconsistent frame rates and may show stutter or visual defects. A native-PC community effort remains unfinished as of 17 October 2026. For a complete and predictable playthrough, use the official PS4 release; treat every PC method as unofficial experimentation.
